In the High Peak area of Derbyshire in England, just north of Caldenfirth lies the village of Thornton in the Peak, a small Peak District village of 600 people. Nestled among the towering peaks in the valley below, this little village which is a stop off point for tourists and walkers alike comes into its own, like many villages in the area.
Features of the village include:
The Parish Church of All Hallows with working bells and a pipe organ (the clock chimes of the church are known as The Guildford Chimes)
The Marshall Arms, one of the two village pubs
The Village Shop and the Deli
And many more buildings including a skybox which includes a railway station for the nearby heritage railway!
