Into the Tower

First of all, this is a fan-made work inspired by the homebrew world of Illyria as seen in the Roll4it 5e liveplay Ascension. Go watch it if you have time, it’s great, links are below.

In a magitech world of Illyria, about 850 years ago, mortals, in their hubris killed a God. The Gods retaliated, destroyed advanced technology, and prohibited its creation as well as all magics not derived from what was given in the Towers. This was called the Cataclysm.

These Towers are the one gift the Gods gave mortalkind. They are now the only way to increase in power. On each floor are a number of challenges of the mind and body, on successful completion of these a Tower Mark is granted. A level, so to speak.

This adventure is such a Tower Floor, where one can go from level 1 to level 2. There are a number of rooms with challenges, with the Tranquil Hall in the middle of them. The Tranquil Hall is the only safe place to short rest! Trying it anywhere else will not end well.

These rooms with challenges are as follows. In a Red Room you can expect a straight fight. In a Blue Room there will be a mental challenge. In a Green Room you take a physical challenge. Finally a Yellow Room is based on pure luck. Note that failing a challenge can often also lead to a fight or some other punishment. Exceptional performance in any room can grant you a gold key, which opens the gold room, where you can choose one of three magical items, each time.

I tested this thoroughly, but there are a lot of moving parts, so if something doesn’t seem to work, please let me know.
