ES Helsinki - Siege Frigate by EuroSpace

Description
As EuroSpace's first among Railgun-designs the ES Helsinki is a siege frigate meant to attack enemy stations from a safe distance just outside the reach of conventional HE missiles. Being little more than a Railgun with thrusters, the Helsinki can mostly stay out of harms way in ship vs ship combat too, but is most effective with an escort or as an escort of a larger combat vessel.

Speed: ~80m/s
Crew: 42
Price: ~317.000$

Despite playing this game for years, I haven't used Railguns that much yet, so feedback is welcome. :)
Also, leave a like, if you like. :)

- Update 26/11/22: Reduced crew number to 42. Now Railgun-suppliers won't switch sides, since they're only supplying every second room, which only has access from one side of the ship. Added some armor in the back, to prevent circling missiles from instantly blowing out the back of the craft.

[Attention: The game currently has a missing feature where crew assignments are not copied along with loading the crew roles. That leads to broken ships. To work around, paste this ship in creative (do NOT create a grid first), then look at the assignments and memorize/take a screenshot. Then try to replicate assignments in career for a correctly working ship]

All the saved ship files are actually just .png images with some extra lines of code attached. You can open the folder in which those images are saved by right clicking on any folder with a saved ship in it (in game) and select the option "open folder". This then minimizes the game and opens the folder in question in your operating system. From there you can just copy the .png file and post it where ever you like. Alternatively, you can click the option "upload to steam" to create a workshop item.

Hi - I'm new to the game and I have stumbled upon your absolutley amazing designs... Noob question, but how the devil do I get a clear image file to save as PNG and upload to the game?

While your ship doesn't look very efficient, it's good that you're dipping your toe into ship creation. The Helsinki isn't my best design to begin with, being mainly focused on affordability in the early game. I wanted to eventually make an efficiency-focused rail build, but it will be a while till I return to the game. For now I'd look else where for efficient railgun designs.

I really like the ship but wanted something a bit bigger so I added a second gun im new to making ships but i think it will work fine and still has a good bit of the orginal, it goes 77m/s with some more sheild and is now reverse thrust focused. Take a look,https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2984811027

I was wondering about that too, but at least during AI tests I've noticed that shots are going of at max range even without a sensor room.
But these frigates are made to be used in a fleet and at an affordable cost, so it wasn't worth it adding the money and crew for a sensor room. Next Railkite will have one though.

Sensors would be great. That way it could work better on its own. because outside of a fleet setting you cant make use of the range of the rail gun

Never been to Finland, so dunno if it's a hit country, but I've heard good things about it.
