The Deranged Industries
proudly introduces:
The Projectile Based Flak Cannons.



This is a standalone version of my projectile based flak cannon.
Do not use with my rebalance mod. This alteration is included.



The projectile based flak cannon is designed to replace the instant-hit beam based flak with a more, grounded, yet still effective, alternative. This replaces the functionality of the vanilla flak cannon itself.
  • Flak now utilizes projectiles.
  • Flak now fires twice as fast, but maintains vanilla DPS, and has slightly higher range.
  • Flak projectiles have a 'proxy burst' effect that arms after 30 meters.
  • Due to the higher rate of fire, flak cannons now require twice as much ammunition to operate.



Why I made this:
Upon my first interaction with flak cannons, my immediate thought was: "Instant hit, 7200 DPS, AOE damage, anti missile, cannon, mine, and LASER? This things is aggressively over powered!."

And then I realized that, while overpowered, it has it's place, even if I did still hate the instant hit portion of it.

So, I decided to address that, but I didn't want to reduce it's effectiveness too much, as it really does have it's place in the game, and to straight nerf it would not do the game, as a whole, justice.

While this mod does fix an important issue, I doubt that doubling ammo consumption was a good idea, as it effectively doubles the amount of supplies needed for sustain, nerfing the weapon significantly. If 2x fire rate is needed to mitigate the nerf of flak now being a projectile, then give flak 2 shots per ammo spent.

@The Jar Thanks for the heads up. I looked into it, and made some changes a while ago that *should* help resolve this, but DPS on non-projectile targets still seems a bit low.

as a sidenote this mod also causes flak to not deal any real damage to enemy parts, as the proximity fuse goes off before it can do any damage, basicaly just covering the enemy in smoke and blowing up some of the projectiles before they get any closer

Flak现在使用射弹。

Flak现在的射击速度是原来的两倍,但保持香草DPS,射程略高。

片状弹丸有一种“代理爆裂”的效果,30米后发射。

由于更高的射速,高射炮现在需要两倍的弹药来操作。

Thank you for the troubleshooting. Fix should be pushed up. (Doesn't need a strings folder, so I just commented it out in the mod.rules file.

ok I figured it out, in you mod.rules there is a line that goes StringsFolder = "strings" that apparently this folder doesn't exist in your mod, hence crashing the game when I try to open the setting menu.

Deleting the line seems to fix the problem, not sure if this mess with functionality of the mod though, I haven't check the whole mod.rules

This is the error it gave me:
System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\799600\2890862054\strings'.

Hi, would like to let you know that this mod crash the game when you open setting :P
