Whenever I head to a "target area" and hear 8+ enemy contacts pop up, I always think: "Ach, I'm gonna have to do sooo much retargeting. Tedious!"
Meanwhile with a ship like this, the many enemy alerts are music to your ear. ^^

It's more of an oddity than anything. While it looks sweet, it's not as effective as just straight up beaming things. Tons of fun against swarms of weak ships though.
