Sterling 4 inch field gun - Model of 1895 [Fictional]

Description
The Sterling 4 inch Model of 1895, also known as the Sterling 4-inch among others, is a fictional field gun designed for service in the fictional Republic of New Ross Armed Military shortly after the beginning of the sawyer wars. Influenced by more modern designs, the Sterling company planned to create a multi-purpose artillery gun which could be used primarily for direct and general indirect fire. Despite the relatively low military spending in New Ross, a committee of military representatives decided that a much more advanced system than the earlier 1875 3.5 inch was a worthy investment.

With a production plan of around 3000 guns planned, Sterling would begin their manufacture in 1895, hence the naming of the gun. Although originally designed for land-based use, the underfunded New Ross Navy would frequently mount these guns on naval vessels as a cheap alternative to specially designed deck guns. It would be used widely until shortly after WW1.

This build is a close 1:1 representation of a turn-of-the-past-century field gun in not only looks, but also function. Among the inclusion of the gun itself, the build includes a caisson and towing car (Wilbur-Henry model 1915)

The collection includes:

- A self-aligning and functional recoil absorption system, designed in conjunction with a friction-block spade to keep gun's movement while firing at a minimum.

- Angle and heading readings for painful authenticity, no sights at all!

- Deploy-able caisson which holds 10 high explosive shells

- A modified Wilbur-Henry 1915 car for towing, which holds 15 high explosive shells

To use the gun:

use the handles and connector on the trail of the gun to traverse; Make sure to lift the trail up to free the spade on the rear. If minor adjustment is needed then slowly pull the trail. The wheels' geometry is a little finicky with fine adjustment :(
Aim using a compass towards your target; the gun's heading is on the right side of the gun. Elevate using rough estimation and adjust using the elevation instrument on top of the gun. Load and fire as needed. The gun naturally may require to be re-adjusted after only a few shells.

to use the caisson:

There is a kickstand on the caisson that's easy to miss; just makes it easier to use and allows it to stand separately of the car.

to use the car:

Open the choke in the cabin and then start the vehicle using the crankshaft bar on the front of the vehicle. Stalls easily when switching gears or braking sharply. The parking brake is to the left of the driver directly outside of the cabin.

the gun was designed for high physics, vibrates violently and sometimes flies in low physics lmao
