Can't improve the waypoints on the stairs as they are a huge headache for non-standard rooms, it's good that it works at least somehow.

Your crew may have stolen 'em for suits, masks or other tools.
...Or it may be damaged and in need of repair.
Hmm, are there too many people in one room, or is there no oxygen anywhere at all? Also check it in the editor.
Although sometimes the wiring breaks when installing a submarine, resubscribing should fix it.
