So, in the 1970s and onwards, Michael Moorcock wrote and released the Elric Saga, a series of novels and short stories detailing the adventures of Elric of Melniboné, a sickly and introspective sorcerer-king bound to the Black Blade Stormbringer, a mighty weapon encasing a bound demon. In his adventures he slaughters his debauched elf-like compatriots, hulking northmen, and all the things the Gods of Law and Chaos can throw at him.

Sound familiar? Much as 40k is essentially Dune smashed together with the collected publications of 2000AD, there's few pieces of media as influential on the Warhammer setting as the Elric Saga - I'd argue that it has a stronger influence than even Tolkein - and one kind find shards of Moorcock's work strewn throughout. Notably, Teclis, Tyrion, Aenarion, Malekith, and Archaon all take inspiration in one form or another, but Malus is probably the closest, a noble bound forever to a soul-devouring daemon stuck in a sword with a tendency to go into berserk rages.
