Queensland Rail Clyde 1460 Class, 1067mm Narrow Gauge.

Description
Queensland EMD/Clyde G-12 (1460 Class) 1067mm Narrow Gauge Version

In 1963 QR signed a contract with Clyde Engineering Co. for 12 improved 1450 class locomotives. By then Clyde had refined the chunky American G-12's body styling and were able to offer a rounded 'Australianised' version complete with dual controls, updated generators and better control equipment. Introduced to service in 1964 these locomotives became the 1460 class. By August 1966 a total of 42 had been delivered, all built at the Salisbury, Brisbane plant of contractor Comeng. Firm favourites with their crews the 1460's were soon seen working the entire coastal mainline strip handling everything from slow, heavy freight to express passenger traffic. They were also commonly seen working Brisbane metro passenger and freight services.
