Description
The Atomic Forge
A massive building containing a microscopic black hole, the Atomic Forge is capable of converting raw materials into other raw materials, or to use as an ultratech trash can. Careful not to put it in any danger, as the contained Singularity may evaporate in an explosion that could level a city.

How to Get
The Atomic Forge can be constructed as a 9x4 building from the Production tab after completing the "Atomic Reconfiguration" research. Due to the extreme ability of the device, it requires 800 Steel, 2000 Plasteel, 1600 Uranium, 20 Components, and 30 Advanced Components. Once built, it requires 27,000 W to keep running, feeding the Singularity enough power to keep it from exploding (turning off the power doesn't actually cause an explosion.)

Uses
Currently, the Atomic Forge is capable of the following:
-Converting Steel to Plasteel, and vice versa.
-Converting Steel to Uranium, and vice versa.
-Converting Steel to Gold, and vice versa.
-Converting Steel to Silver, and vice versa.
-Converting Uranium to Gold, and vice versa.
-Converting Uranium to Plasteel, and vice versa.
-Converting Uranium to Silver, and vice versa.
-Converting Gold to Plasteel, and vice versa.
-Converting Gold to Silver, and vice versa.
-Converting Gold to Plasteel, and vice versa.
-Converting Plasteel to Silver, and Vice versa
-Converting Steel to Jade, and vice versa.
-Converting Wood to Steel.
-Converting Stone Chunks to Steel, and vice versa.
-Converting Stone Blocks to Steel.
-Converting Textiles to Steel.
-Converting Apparel to Steel.
-Converting Weapons to Steel.
-Converting Food to Steel.
-Converting Corpses (humanlike) to Steel.)
All of these capabilities are based on market value of the ingredients. Using direct material-to-material conversion should (I hope) not raise your colony value at all. If anything, it should be like having your own little personal trade ship with unlimited raw materials. This does not go for the non-specific conversions, such as Textiles, Apparel, and Weapons, which use an average market value of the most common items in the game - using this to convert high-wealth items to steel may actually be lowering your total wealth - but hey, if you don't want it and it's sitting around, why not?

It is important to note that a Pawn must have an Intellectual skill of at least 14 to operate the Atomic Forge, due to its extreme complexity (and balance.)

Compatibility
The Atomic Forge doesn't have any patches currently for any other mods (or DLCs, Biotech's Atomizer included.) It can pull from the standard Food, Corpses, Stone Bricks, Textiles, Weapons, and Apparel lists in anything is added to them, but nothing else. If you have any ideas for patches with other mods, do tell!

Why
I got tired of running out of Gold near the end game of Rimworld, and finally decided to just make my own solution, and then it kinda got out of hand. I'm very pleased with how it came out though, especially the texture, as I have never done art before in my life. The Atomic Forge is based on a device from my own Fiction, the "Atomizer," but Tynan (blessed be thy name) got to it first, the bastard.

By the way, you can do whatever you want with this, copy it, mess with it, reupload it, I don't really care as long as people are having fun. It'd be nice to mention me, but I won't complain regardless.

would you consider, one day, the ability to use this to destroy wastepacks, or even convert them? Just curious!

also, for that "anything to anything", not necessarily. You said it's based on market value? Have it so that you just put materials in, and can pull out any material of said market value.

So, not using different recipes, but making it more like the trade-ship interface, converting anything to anything by measuring the market value!

Realistically, with my coding skills, no. I'd have to make a recipe for every individual item to item. If you're looking for anything specific, I'd recommend the "Make Anything Craftable" mod instead (or combined, if you'd prefer to have all unusual stuff made in the Atom Forge)

Can you add a recipe so that this turns anything into anything else? Like say insect jelly to chicken eggs or milk?

@polios3 Hey, you seem to have forgotten your "Thank you".

Hmmm, a black hole bomb could be interesting. I'll look into it.

I suggest an idea to expand the mod, perhaps when creating the black hole it is possible to "contain" it in a smaller capsule (like 2x2 or 1 tile) where it cannot be used, but it stills explodes when damaged.
This is because I like the transformation mechanic, and creating a black hole for a massive explosion defense is quite interesting too, but put the whole forge in the front lines is quinda weirdo y'know?
Also the mod is great thanks!!

I like the idea behind it, but the idea of it causing such a massive explosion sells it for me. I can see this as both a useful resource converter and a frontline defense for very wealthy colonies.

" as your raids shouldn't change in size" yes, i know. on my save i have around 6m wealth, and Wealth above 1m doesn't count for raid calculation.
Dragon  [author] 5 Dec, 2022 @ 7:00pm
I am unsure how VTE interacts with wealth calculation - as if its price changes don't impact it, nothing too bad should happen, as your raids shouldn't change in size. If it does, then it's possible you may be able to massively raise your colony wealth on accident. The recipes in the Atomic Forge do not change with anything that alters the wealth value of materials, and are set-in-stone; i.e. 20 gold is always going to be converted to 200 silver, and vise versa.

"All of these capabilities are based on market value of the ingredients." so... if i'm using Vanilla Trading Expanded, and my gold is for 0,01silver... how does it work?
