Vanquish Mod

NOT RECOMMENDED FOR INEXPERIENCED OR CASUAL PLAYERS
An extension for Calamity Mod that adds extra UI and gameplay mechanics.

The focus of this Mod is to add extra gameplay mechanics to Calamity to increase difficulty
and constraint when fighting bosses. Taking damage now is exceptionally punishing.

All updates will be listed in detail and announced in the discord server.

The only thing that I said actually matters is blood, and it's nigh unregeneratable healthbar that allows in best case scenario up to 10 hits per bossfight. It's actually decent in fights with mobs because it actually puts your life in danger, too bad no mob events punish you for death and the bossfights are the things responcible for progress. Again, no questions if that's for earlier bossfights, but in longer fights you'll always have much more health than blood. It's theoretically possible to fix it by adding blood from bosses like healing orbs from shark tooth neclace from RoR2, but it should be balanced properly, and I'm not sure if that'll make it decent from gamedesign pov. And, again, source code. I'm not trying to hurt or anything, but gamedesign-wise it's questionable, good luck in coding.

i lost the source code for this awhile awhile ago, half the things you mentioned i wanted to remove or rework but cant until i decide to sit down for 12 hours and reverse engineer my own code. but lowkey sounds like skill issue :steambored:

reforges. And don't even get me started on mixing with smth like Overhaul's mechanics or Infernum, anything stronger than Plantera puts more strain on your blood than on actual hp. If you want anything interesting just install something for the bosses, this mod does not offer anything hard in interesting way, and if you want something harder than base Calamity just go for Infernum, you get new bossfights as a bonus. Still to easy? No op weapons, other class, no buffs if you really want to, literaly anything that offers something new and not just difficulty for the sake of difficulty. I get that it's a smaller modification, but it still offers absolutely nothing. Oh, and btw, 10/10 experience, you kill Providence, die because of blood loss and don't get anything because cutscene didn't end yet.
TL;DR not worth it, just get Infernum.

hit for like 30 seconds to get enough blood for another hit, so that's your big healthbar for whole boss battle that doesn't scale with anything. For hp you get armor and hp ups, but for blood literally nothing. It's just unbalanced piece of code that hides behind "skill issue" cover. As for the other things, hunger and thurst are nothing but inconvinience, you just have to respawn sometimes or buy food later in the game; stress barely does anything besides visuals, if you're staying far from bosses (as far as I know that causes stress, tho no idea, you don't get to know that stuff) then you are probably going for adrenaline, which means that you have dodge accesorry on, which means that that stress does about nothing; and leveling does not affect you either: post moon lord 26th lvl it gives +7 dmg to 150, + 30 hp to 600, + about 40 mana to 400 and smth like +7% crit which is the most useful of all, so in 2/3 of the game I got less than two lucky

Call me casual as much as you like, but this mod is not good. There are two types of getting hit that need to be punished: tanking and just getting hit too often. Tanking is already nerfed by increased damage, it's almost impossible, and for getting hit we have hp. So, any damage that needs to be punished is already punished. So what that mod does? Punishes you for long bossfights... I'll repeat that, PUNISHES FOR LONG BOSSFIGHTS!!! That's literally the OPPOSITE you want to do. Why? Like, you've got the same 10 hits both for king slime and, idk, PROVIDENCE (as far as I'm willing to go without uninstalling that ****), or DoG! You need to go no

Unfortunately i lost the source file for the mod when i reset my computer quite awhile ago so it may be a long time before the mod receives an update but i appreciate your feed back and what you said has been on the todo for awhile now its just a difficult topic as balancing for specific encounters is not easy.
