Mineable Miniroids

Description
Mineable Miniroids are essentially very tiny asteroids containing all available mineable minerals such as the more common iron and copper, but also include relatively large amounts of tritanium, hyperium, uranium, carbon and gold.

These miniroids can be found in their own asteroid fields, they don't spawn anywhere else. This makes it easier to mine them using dedicated mining equipment.

To mine the Miniroids, it is adviced to build a dedicated ship with prongs or horns and manually pilot your mining vessel through the clouds of Miniroids to gather them on large piles before salvaging them. The salvaging itself goes relatively quick due to the Miniroids containing no significant amounts of useless impurities, you can mine straight to the minerals.

Also the Miniroids contain a relatively large amount of more valuable resources, like tritanium and gold. However, it takes a little bit more effort to mine them because of how spread out the Miniroids are, even though the asteroid fields containing the Miniroids are somewhat smaller than the standard asteroid fields (it will still take some time and effort to sweep all the miniroids onto a single pile though).

You can still mine the Miniroids the old fashioned way if you want to. The Miniroids are also quite light and numerous, making it easier to push large numbers of them around.

For each starsystem, only a single Miniroid field will spawn with a spawn chance of 90%. These Miniroid fields don't replace any of the standard asteroid fields, these Miniroid fields use their own spawning mechanism.

This mod may add a new flavor to your mining experience. It's definitely different from mining standard sized asteroids or even really huge ones.

First prepare by adding prongs or horns to the front of your mining ship.
These horns or prongs are needed to collect the Miniroids as you fly through the clouds of Miniroids.

Start flying through the cloud of Miniroids to collect them.

Collect them until you have a large pile. The Miniroids may seem somewhat fluffy when collecting them.

Slowly brake and start mining!

I forgot to add that for this update I also made all these tiny asteroids of the soft type, meaning that all of these can from now on be mined without a mining laser.

This mod may (as Nikolaich already explained) have some performance issues though, when trying to plow through the field with a lot of these asteroids stuck on your ship, so please be adviced and consider this before trying out this mod.

I'm not sure what I could do about it. It should be fine if you just mine these tiny asteroids instead of collecting them, but this will be relatively time-consuming and not be for everyone.

Consider this mod a flavor mod, the total amount of resources from the field of miniroids isn't all that big (but at least you can mine them without a mining laser).

Version 1.1.0 will support Cosmoteer version 0.26.2 from now on. Previous versions will no longer work due to changes in how asteroids are spawned.

I should actually make some balance changes to this mod, but this will probably not happen soon.

Form a belt of these miniroids in a distant orbit and make it move slowly through it. I think the game would just die trying to calculate the physics of so many objects.

@SHINZOU: Yes, it does. But it won't have any miniroids with the new resources in them (which has actually been suggested before, then I forgot all about it).
Perhaps I should create an ETTM version for this mod, it probably wouldn't be too much work for me anyway.

Hey does this work with the Extended Tech Tree mod?

Version 1.0.1 updates the supported Cosmoteer version, to get rid of the "incompatible mod" message.
Otherwise identical to 1.0.0.

The animations above were made at 8x speed, though at 8x speed it made steering the mining ship in manual mode a bit twitchy.

"Would you ever possibly consider making a version of the mega asteroid mod that is the same as this one, where it's 100% resources and no rocks?"
I already tried this out and it made the asteroids look kinda ugly, especially if they have only a single resource in them and besides my autominer deletes asteroids completely including the empty rocks anyway.

My mods are usually compatible with each other, I made sure of that before uploading. My current playthrough I use all my mods at the same time (except the experimental ones of course).

It is labeled the same way that asteroid fields are labeled, but the circle will be a bit smaller.
