Introducing Day Number 07, the Firedrake - Strike Fighter

"In the days after the attack we were unsure if we’d make it home for the holidays. The destruction of the Redeemer left fighter pilots in short supply, and heavily sought after should tensions rise between the Sovereignty and the Solar Federation. Myself and all the others from our colony had pledged our lives to the King, and although we were up against 9th generation fighters, we were confident in our vessels.

Each day I walked the decks of those hangars, I looked back not knowing whether it would be my last. The front was getting increasingly hostile, and our patrols more perilous, it was only a matter of time before one of those fighters pushed too far and we had to act, and little more than a month after Redeemer, that day came. This was it, a contest for the skies, no ground support, no assistance, just me, the Drake, and the enemy.

One thought, and one thought only kept me from just letting them win, the thought of whether I would see my home blanketed in snow, or smothered by ash…"
