All Loud on the Western Front - WWI

Description
"What's the Price of a Mile?"

Fall 1917 - Passchendaele

It is the third battle of the Ypres Salient, a longtime battlefield between the British and the Germans stuck in a mired stalemate of trench warfare for the longest time now. The objective is the village of Passchendaele on top of a key strategic ridge only 6 miles away from the Allied front.

In horrible muddy conditions due to the destroyed drainage systems during battle in addition to horrible rains the allied powers forces made their way across the destroyed and wet terrain to try to make breakthroughs. Artillery shells, machine gun rounds, snipers, and the ground itself all contributed to a soldier's suffering. Casualties mounted, bodies filled the mud, every foot was a struggle in every way. And there would be a high price to pay for every mile.

==========================================================================

Play as a British or Entente troop in this infamous battle and experience firsthand the horrors of Passchendaele field as you try to assault across no man's land and find out for yourself, what was the price of a mile.

-experience the horrors of trench warfare
-understand how futile a charge across no man's land is
-the quick respawn timer is intentional to understand how swift death can come in many ways
-You and anyone else you play with are expected to die and die a lot. What price will you pay for victory?

-Zeus is available but optional (ideally)
-The artillery is a general barrage and will ultimately stop and then the assault can continue/commence but there will still be some from the enemy so be wary and use the crater holes and any other cover you can find
-if I could, I'd have put in some sort of mud feature to make things even more bogged down
-Maybe also in a future update I will add Mark Is because Mark Is are cool
-Requirement list may look large but it's mostly just the WWI Remembrance mod and it's dependencies

==========================================================================
All credit for required mods and addons used go to their respective authors.
Also while not listed, a special credit to "Fire Support+" for inspiration on making the artillery
(side note: the scenario lists a dependency on Malden DLC but that shouldn't be the case I think, I don't know to remove but if it causes issues, please let me know)

Additional suggested mods:
Enhanced movement - for climbing over the top
Blastcore and Improved Craters - for nice arty effects
ACRE 2 - for authentic voice range
Suppress for even more authentic experience of machine guns firing at you

Special thanks to Dotarius, JackTheViper, and the /milsim/ members for help with some scripting, ideas, and testing

This scenario is based on the real life Battle of Passchendaele in WWI and was heavily inspired by:
The film "All Quiet on the Western Front" (though it isn't Passchendaele but still WWI and very close to it).
The songs "What's the Price of a Mile" and "Great War" by Sabaton (and some others songs by them too).

The Armistice itself as this project idea was started on 11/11/22 after seeing an abject lack of WWI scenarios on the workshop. I wanted to change that and do it right which I hope I have here.
Historical recounts and documentaries of the battle, many and numerous but key ones include:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKmfIbecSsQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7oArncx5uk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8p8dn4UlVk0
and finally of course the real life men who suffered and died in the real battle itself. The films, songs, and documentaries above have given us the means to continue remembering their lives and what happened during that time. I hope to do the same.

Any feedback, issues, commentary appreciated. Also be sure to check out my other mission based on the real life Battle of 73 Easting and I hope to continue bringing more missions based on real life battles in the future.

@meandallfour Thanks for playing! Admittedly I'm not at all a seasoned mission maker and I just tried to do some for fun plus involving things that are my passion such as real historical battles. As for making your own mission, you can certainly find a lot of resources online and especially youtube to get you started in eden editor although I would recommend using "3den enhanced" mod. Again thanks for playing and best of luck to you.

Excuse me? I played your mission, and it was alright, but I'd like to know how to make my own missions to post them on the workshop. Can you teach me? Perhaps I can make a battle of Verdun mission of sorts? If so, God bless you! :poilu::germany:

@Rowdied Thanks! I'll check the IFA3. I know there's the updated one and I might have been using the older one so I'll double check that.

Here's a video of the first playthrough/test with some friends. There was a slight glitch which altered the mission due to someone accidentally loading ACE but ultimately our price of a mile was 54 deaths amongst 4 people. Truly the WWI experience.
