Improved HAZMAT Box Car

This is an upgraded version of box car setup to carry hazardous materials. It was made longer and the cargo area is now larger. There are personnel doors on the ends and on the sides to allow for easy entry by the crew. There are also ladders near the ends allowing access to the roof of the train. There are two large custom doors on either side and 5 block cargo rails to load pallets. Additionally, there are 7 block electrical connectors that allow the car to be connected to a loading platform or vehicle. There are working lights, heaters, and an assortment of personal equipment for any crew on the train. The car was built to use my personal train system controller and to interact with my other cars and locomotives.

The HAZMAT placard system has video monitors on all 4 sides to display an interchangeable placard for 10 hazard classes and 4 sub-classes. The placards are controlled from the panels located at the front of the car by the brake controls.

The front of the car has a lever to control the brakes for the car or the whole train if it is set as the lead vehicle. The top instrument panel is referred to as the "Direction Control Panel." It indicates whether this car is the leading car or controlling the brakes for the train or if it is being controlled remotely from another vehicle. The second switch on the panel indicates whether the controlling data is coming from the front connector or the rear connector. The bottom instrument panel shows the current number data being sent along the length of the train.
