Description
Bret "The Hitman" Hart claimed to be "the best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be," and he certainly has the body of work to justify making that statement.

Bret competed for his father's Stampede Wrestling for a decade before coming to the WWF, where he became a major star. His Hart Foundation tag team and stable led to multiple tag team titles, and on his own, he became a 5-time WWF Champion. His feuds with Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, and his brother Owen were legendary.

When Bret was about to leave WWF for WCW in 1997 as WWF Champion, he was infamously screwed by Vince McMahon in what would become known as the Montreal Screwjob. The bell rang without Hart tapping out to Michaels, and Hart was legitimately irate as he was not scheduled to lose.

In WCW, Bret won two more world titles and four US Titles, but injuries cut his time in WCW (and career) short.

Hart retired in 2000 and later reconciled with WWE, returning for a brief spell as a babyface authority figure.

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006.
