The Z24500-Z26500 railcar, nicknamed the TER2N NG, is a double-decker railcar made up of 4 variants: first the Z 24500, which is a double-decker and a triple-decker, then the Z 26500, which is a quadruple-decker and a penta-decker. With the success of the z23500, in 2000 the SNCF and Alstom began work on a brand new 2-storey multiple unit, the successor to the z23500. The TER2NNG are more efficient than the old z23500. They have more capacity, PMR access and speeds of up to 160km/h instead of 140km/h. The first trainsets came out in 2004 and will be built until 2010. Many regions have ordered them, including : Picardie, Nord Pas de Calais, Haute Normandie, Pays de la Loire, Centre, PACA, Rhône Alpes and Lorraine. It was also exported to Luxembourg under the name CFL 2200.
