PU STRV-103C

The STRV-103 is a 1950s Swedish main battle tank. Nicknamed the S Tank, it resembles a wedge with tracks and a 10.5cm cannon. It was among one of the first MBTs to feature a gas turbine engine, one of the only tanks to incorporate mirrored controls for all crew members, and the only main battle tank of the time to not include a turret.

The STRV-103 is an unconventional take on modern tank design, with its turretless nature being an unusual design choice. The lack of a turret came about due to reports citing turrets being where the majority of crew fatalities occurred from enemy hits. This decision gave the STRV-103 an astonishingly low silouette, rivalling those of cold war Soviet tank designs. The hull incorporated the cannon, which was aimed either by rotating the vehicle using its treads or angling the tank via a unique suspension which tilted the tank up and down. The latter became an iconic feature of the tank due to its novelty.
