UPDATE 2023/01/05: added the [WORTHLESS_STONE_ONLY] tag to the stonecutting reaction. rip my hematite

Adds a Stonecutter's workshop that cuts stone boulders into blocks at a faster rate than the Stoneworker, while also generating stone scraps as a useful byproduct. Stone scraps can be milled into fire clay or ground into black sand at a Quern or Millstone.

The Stonecutter's Shop can cut either 1, 2 or 4 blocks at a time, and each option has different product probabilities, outlined below:

Each option is intended to give a base of 4 blocks per boulder, with some variance. The more boulders you process at once, the higher the odds of getting more than 4 blocks per boulder.

Stone Scraps per boulder: 100% chance of 1, 50% chance of +1, 30% chance of +1. So processing 4 boulders will give a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12.

1 boulder (cut stone):
Stone Blocks (per boulder):
100% chance of 2
80% chance of +2
40% chance of +2

2 boulders (cut stone (bulk, 2 boulders)):
Stone Blocks (per boulder):
100% chance of 3
70% chance of +2
50% chance of +1

4 boulders (cut stone (bulk, 4 boulders)):
Stone Blocks (per boulder):
100% chance of 4
50% chance of +2

How are we supposed to deal with the black sand? It just sort of piles up and I have no idea how to use it or even transfer it into bags.

I was bothered by not being able to assign specific laborers so I made a small patch. Just added [SKILL:CARVE_STONE] (for stone cutter) and [SKILL:MILLER] (for sand and clay) to each reaction. Also [SKILL_IP:15] so they actually get skill exp, but not as much as the regular tasks.

This made it so I could actually assign stone carvers to the stone cutter.

It might be a load order issue. I'm kind of amazed this mod is still compatible after nearly 2 years of no updates, though. Thanks for the confirmation.

just wanted to say that I'm using this mod with Better Instruments just fine so I'm not sure what's going on with the comment below

mod is incompatible with Better Instruments. i have no idea why, but loading both mods at the same time removes the stonecutter's shop from the workshop menu

Can you make it so it uses the right damn labor for stone blocks from the mason workshop? Because at the moment literally anyone uses it and that's causing disruption.

I found stone scraps under coins of all things. I was able to set up a stock pile for them. Just search for scrap under coins.

they're Small Rocks for the Knapper skill from Adventure mode. https://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Knapper

I chose these because they had the right icon and also can't be used for any crafting or building in Fortress mode, and unfortunately a side result of that is they're not present in the Stockpile UI.

If anyone has any suggestions on stockpile-friendly material templates I could use instead (or a way to prevent blocks or boulders from being used for any reactions outside of their reaction class, as well as construction), I'd appreciate it.

What type of item is the stone scraps? I can't figure out how to store it in a stockpile, I can't find what it's listed under.
