Don't expect much of him or he'll get sad

This weird hooved quadrupedal mollusk spends its youth maturing inside its shell, underwater. After outgrowing it, it walks the deserts in search of its preferred food: metal-rich minerals. Its ability to steadily stride for kilometers made it a great packing animal for the farmers of Metalburg; they carved their vestigial shells into sealed seats and cargo spaces, and rode inside them everywhere - even underwater. As technology progressed, the farmers were pushed to trade the camelsnails for modern vehicles that didn't eat half of the production from the mines. As they stubbornly resisted the change, mechanical replicas of the animal (such as the one presented here) were built to "ease" them into a modern workstyle. It didn't work.
