INTRO
Have you ever wondered, “what if Freeman didn’t have the HEV suit”?
If you are up to the challenge and, like me, you’re a hardcore half-life gamer, I present to you the elden ring version of black mesa.
you can now fully experience the pain of surviving the facility and Xen through the eyes of a measle radiation suit wearer!

FEATURES
  • Replaces Freeman’s HEV with a regular radiation suit [imgur.com].

  • Batteries, Hev chargers and crystals no longer work. Instead, find units of Kevlar, like this one [imgur.com], to replenish your armor.

  • Weapons’ ammo is reduced to hl2-like amounts. Self-explosive damage is much more deadly.

  • Oxygen supply is reduced. Damage taken is radically increased but customized to fit the context of the damage.

  • Most NPC’s are “buffed”:




  • Mainly: HEV Zombie(+Health), Vorts(-Response time, +Accuracy, +DMG), Ichthyosaur(+Health), Barnacle(“instakill”(I explain the quotes further), Nihilanth(+Health, +Attack radius, +damage)

  • Slightly: Zombies(+range), Bullsquid(+Health, +Attack radius), Controller(+jukes), Big Houndeye(+knockback), Vehicles(more deadly overall), Xen Tree(+damage)

  • The suit doesn’t talk to you anymore ☹

    Barnacle disclaimer: The intention since this mod’s inception was to make Barnacles either instakill you on bite, or to do tick damage from the moment you touch it (20 dmg+-), making them extremely deadly, forcing the player to be smart about avoiding them. Unfortunately, the only way to do this is by editing every single barnacle in the game, which isn’t feasible for this mod. To get around this, barnacles have infinite health, forcing you to evade them or bait them with props. Fortunately, there is only 1 barnacle in the entire game that is unavoidable and without props nearby (Chapter 4, after the meat locker vents). I deleted that barnacle so that the gameplay isn’t frustrating. Nonetheless, If you don’t want to deal with Infinite HP barnacles and prefer to play with vanilla barnacles, Instead of Subscribing and do the automated download, Go into the Mod's Drive, Download NightmareNoBarnacle.zip, Extract in your Custom folder, IT SHOULD WORK (if you are subscribed dont forget to unsubscribe). Keep in mind, if you don’t play with all the mod’s features, you won’t be able to Participate in the leaderboards 😉 .

    Obviously, if you find an unavoidable barnacle with no props nearby I may have missed in my test runs or other similar non-intended stuff, feel free to message me :p .

  • Start the game and set difficulty on “HARD”
  • Enjoy!
  • For the Hand model, download the test.vpk here link [drive.google.com] and copy it to the custom folder.
  • In the same Drive, You can find a version of the mod without modified barnacles. If you prefer it, Don't subscribe.

    We’re gonna have 2 leaderboards: “%Nightmare Full Game Speedrun” and “%Insanity run” (how far can you get in the game without dying, +time in case of 0 deaths speedrun) Quick save/reload is allowed, as with the usual speedrun rules.

It took me about 2 minutes with a couple of quick saves on my original recording. Died a few times though. To do it in 0 deaths you cannot miss any magnum HS / xbow shot

That's what i always wanted to do, but the game devs didn't add a variable to change barnacle damage, so you either play with unchanged barnacles or add the challenge of fully avoiding them. your choice when downloading :)

The barnacle should only be increased in health and damage, not invincible
