NSF - Basalt (FF3B)
My friends said that I should upload this because it looks cool so here it is. The Basalt is a brawler style frigate rated for danger level nine combat at Captain difficulty. It prefers a hard and fast style of combat getting up close to destroy reactors, weapons, and other critical components. It can survive against danger level 10 and some level 11 ships but it should be supported or replaced by other more capable ships. This ship is not the most optimised thing in the world but I have tried to make it better where I could. Form was taken over function so some parts are a bit janky.

Note that supply chains and crew squads have been assigned to specific components of the ship. You may need to reassign supply chains and crew squads if you make changes to the ship.


Operating notes
- The sides of the ship, where the reverse thrusters and medium reactors are, are the weakest part of it. They will almost always be the first parts to be destroyed in combat.
- Enemy AI tend to target the medium reactors on the sides of the ship.
- Do not rely on the shields and armour to protect the sides. Manage your closure and rotate the ship to reduce damage in those areas.
- Strong Ion Beams can destroy the sides very quickly. Rotate the ship during combat to block some of the damage.
- This ship will not endure heavy H.E. missile spam. Be sure to have support ships or attach point defence modules/pods to the ship when attacking missile cruisers or bases with missiles.
- Despite having EMP launchers this ship is not great at defeating a strong shield array.
- Missiles that are launched can hit the armour protecting the launcher if the ship is spinning too fast.
- Poor strafe mobility means getting an off-angle or trying to flank ships can be difficult.
- Asteroid and ship debris may get stuck on the front of the ship. Be sure to check and clear the front before entering combat.
