CRN Templar Class Expeditionary Cruiser:

The CRN Templar Class is the CRN's new top of the line space combatant, rugged and speedy the Templar is just one new line in a series of new warships being commissioned into the Republic Navy. With its two quad barreled rail turrets the Templar is not only capable of projecting the Republics power, but enforcing it.

Lore:

Born out of a need for a new space combatant, the CRN desperately needed an expeditionary cruiser class to fill the shoes of the old and aging Beowulf classes, speedy, well armed and armored were the prime requirements for a new ship design to be laid down. Design drafting for the Templar began in 2980 with over a year and a half of different companies revising and redesigning their designs in competition for the contract for the ship that would become the Templar. In 2985 the Newport Shipbuilding Industries laid down the first outline for what would become the Templar later on. With the first ship rolling off of the production line just over two and a half years later, named after the Knights Templar, the designers envisioned the Templar class as a highly capable fighting machine, with the abilities to project the Republics power across it's sovereignty and beyond. The next three ships in the class would roll off the production line several months later, with the Templar class almost entirely replacing the old Beowulf class in the CRN's various expeditionary fleets. The Templar class wouldn't see combat until the outbreak of the Republic-Xeno war, where the Templar helped act as a spearhead for assaulting Republic forces, with its revolutionary design the Templar was able to quickly rush past enemy ships and break their defensive lines in various orbital positions, Templars in the battles for the capturing and defense of Gideon would cut enemy fleets apart from one another dividing and conquering enemy battlegroups.

Authors Notes:

I've been working on this ship for about four weeks, it works pretty well. And it is quite honestly one of my favorite cruiser deigns, and there is a lot more where this ship came from. I envision that I'll have a few more designs out by either early or late February. So keep your eye out for that, Lastly, Stay happy and healthy and enjoy!!

Lastly I should credit Scruffted for all the help that they put in on the ship, if you want to check out their stuff the links are below.

This looks partly inspired by the Donnager-class Battleship from The Expanse

If I were being pedantic, I'd say it seems to serve the combat role of a very large frigate, relying primarily on a single type of weapon to perform an extremely specialized role in a fleet, but it damn sure isn't a battleship, a classification which was defined by having a variety of differently-sized guns for any range and scenario. Though realistically, cruiser is fine as a catch-all, and has absorbed the role of battleships in modern navies, which is why the term "battlecruiser" exists. Don't let a bunch of square pictures with silly names next to them tell you your job. You do you.

Online pedantics aside, it's a damn fine build. I'm always thoroughly impressed with your CRN line. It's clear a lot of time, hard work, careful thought, and passion go into these designs.

@-Data- "clearly an expert on fictional space ship classifications, knowing more about how the ships should be designated than the actual creators."

Seriously why bother commenting? You provide nothing useful to the conversation, instead whinging about a name cos it doesn't revolve around your specific preferences. Its crap like this that puts people off making content for you.

it is not a battleship because if you looked on my screenshots page, my battleship is considerably larger. Its a difference in scaling, just because its larger than your cruiser doesn't mean I have to up-class it.

Literally a battleship, learn your ship classes, viper.
