Introducing the ONRC - ‘Drifter’ LITE - Close Reconnaissance Vehicle

"The drifter was brought in as a part of the ONRCs ground force modernisation programme to provide a cheap, reliable buggy with scouting capabilities. Previously surface garrisons relied upon Hoplite, Spartan and Sheriff class rovers for operations, however with production costs increasing as fewer and fewer new ore deposits were being discovered, their end became inevitable. Being faster and more maneuverable than its predecessors, as well as a smaller target was a massive factor in the decision to give the Drifter's production the all clear - especially given that recent expansions onto new planets prompted the need for such vehicles in order to navigate their rugged surfaces and keep the colonies alive. "

The drifter is a lightweight, Close Reconnaissance Vehicle designed for use on all planetary bodies, with a top speed of 100ms if necessary, and is equipped with advanced surveillance technology as well as ore detection and light defence systems.

Also featured is a 3 point piston jack, gyroscopic self-righting, anti-roll steering and anti-flip braking. The drifter runs off of a battery that can be recharged via connection to a station, or through the externally mounted backup reactor. Two small cargo containers are also featured, connected to a forward mounting Gatling gun for minor offensive action.

Originally this rover was gonna be a mostly decorative piece, designed with indicators, opening doors, and no connection points, but I want the direction of the faction to change to a more survival ready standard. So I tore all of that out, and created this instead.

Ideally most if not all future designs will be survival ready, and I will try to make them as usable as possible whilst maintaining the aesthetics this faction has come to be known for. I hope you enjoy this design, and the designs I plan to release soon after.
