SNCF 030-TU(USATC-S100)

Description
SNCF 030 TU (Ex-USA Transportation Corps S-100) H.K. Porter, Inc., Pittsburgh(US), 1942
The 030 TUs are steam locomotives imported from the USA by the US Army through the USATC during the liberation of Europe as the S100.
After the conflict, the batch of machines delivered in Europe was divided among the different railway administrations of the continent. The SNCF received 77 machines, which were called 030 TU. They were mainly used in yards and depots
They underwent some modifications during their career: replacement of the original safety valves by unified Coale type models and their coal bunker was enlarged by the installation of an extension, and a T.I.A. tank was installed on one of the water tanks. Some were fitted with the Westinghouse type air brake with the installation of an air pump.
