Description
Size class 5, unlock level 10 for RE & Vanilla Empyrion. Highly efficient use of space, with extensive room to improve. Oversized hangar can take small fleets of ships, a single large ship, or combinations of both. Low initial investment of materials means that after installing a teleporter, more planets are easily reachable from that point forward.

The Endurance is meant for late-beginning game, all the way through end-game as an efficient way to reach multiple planets.

I designed this Forward Operating Base as a means of establishing permanent residence on any planet I had even small interest in, for minimal investment of resources. I was tired of sprawling bases with tons of rooms that had little functionality, and which took up large plots of land (which are hard to put blueprints on evenly). While pretty, they become impractical.

Wide field-of-view turrent emplacements

Giving the Endurance a greater than 270 degree field of view for each turret means that overall less of them are needed. It also helps keep turrets on-target longer, usually meaning quicker kills.

Built-in Anti-personnel Sentries

Built right into the structure, eight total Sentry turrets ensure enemy troops and predators stay off your back, and your base.

A sunken and hardened Core

Sinking the base's Core under the ground and behind multiple layers of armored, reinforced concrete helps keep the base up and running in the event of attack.

Easy to use Build Guides

A white line running the perimeter of the base helps with placement on uneven terrain. Simply sink the base when building down to the line (or a little above so it is below ground).

Integrated visual landing system for larger ships

Landing large ships in a hangar can sometimes be difficult - the system that comes with Endurance gives you multiple visual centering aids (vertical white slats and orange landing lights) to help with this.

Easily identifiable primary system switches

All accessible from the main hangar bay, switches for external lights, interior lights (which are automatic by level), and turret emplacements can all be used when needed. Power cut-off switches are available in the base's control panel.

Customizing:
Endurance was built with efficiency and economy of resources in mind. To that end, some items were left out so that you could add in and customize for your own needs. The entire second floor is empty for you to setup as you want - constructors, food stations, furnaces, etc. Additionally, if you want to be able to easily jump to the base you'll want to install a teleporter (space marked on upper level with a 'T'). Leaving it and a few other objects out meant meeting certain CPU and resource limits.

The good news about meeting those limits, is that dropping an Endurance on any planet you are interested in becomes that much easier.

Upgrading:
Endurance has more than enough space to expand as you need her to. Space for a shield is marked on the subfloor, and most grey blocks on that level can be removed and replaced with equipment (some are container extensions). When first installing a Teleporter (or shield, etc), keep a close eye on CPU and power requirements these objects require. I recommend adding/upgrading generators & CPU before placing the more power-hungry components down.

Space was also reserved in the ground floor area for four 3x3 grow plots (36 plots total).

High-g compatibility:
Although I have not tested yet, due to the way I designed Endurance she should be able to fully support exploration on 5g planets (if you manage to find them). All of her stairs are double-long, and moving between floors uses elevators. The only exception is roof access - if you plan on staying on a high-g planet and want to use the roof for additional docking space, remove a solar panel and put double-long stairs in place of the singles there.

Base equipment at build:
  • Two (2) 504k Storage arrays
  • Four (4) 8k Cargo containers
  • Two (2) 32k Ammunition controllers
  • Wireless Access
  • Food Processor & Fridge
  • Biomedical Chamber
  • Oxygen station
  • Armor locker
  • CPU Extender (Basic)
  • High fuel & oxygen capacity
  • Three roof-mounted minigun turrets (space for 3 more)
  • Eight sentry turrets (hidden, retracting)
  • Twelve (12) Solar capacitors & two power generators
  • Automatic interior lights (per level) to save on power
  • Automatic ramp/hangar doors and lighting

As noted above, early upgrades you may want to install into Endurance include:
  • A teleporter
  • A base shield and pentaxid tank
  • Constructors as needed
  • Additional roof turrets
  • Upgrading/adding on additional generators
  • Upgrading with CPU improvements as needed

Oh yeah? (read that planet's description with the 'map' key - hence the wink emoji.)

@Monroe - it's from creative mode in Reforged Eden, a planet called Uai. Has some pretty vibrant day/night colors.
