Description
This is the Version 2 Lilac, for the Version 4 go here! https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2697174282

Avalice's super fast, superpowered half Chinese Water Dragon heroine from Freedom Planet gets a much needed update two and a half years later!

This is a remaster of Asgrid's original mod of Lilac the Dragon Girl from Freedom Planet. Full credit to Asgrid for the work put in to create the original mod. The original creator had given public permission for it to be improved so I've taken it on myself to give this character a much needed polish in order to bring her in line with modern workshop standards, since many other characters have a considerable amount of polish. The original modder has since deemed this version to be the definitive version of the character. And hey, we have over 25 Sonics on Workshop, whose to say we don't need another Not Sonic?

The character's gameplay I felt was the most polished part of the whole package so I kept much of the moveset in tact, though a few tweaks were made over time. Changes include:

- Up Tilt and Up Strong are now multi-hit moves and hitboxes have been adjusted.
- Dragon Dash is now slightly faster and is permanently on cooldown after every use, including cancelling.
- (Ver 2.0 addition) Cancelling the Dragon Dash now triggers the Boost Breaker
- (Ver 2.5 addition) Down Special now has a hitbox and the shield effects have been revamped
- Dragon Dash increase your running speed and changes the animation to match.
- As of Version 2.35 there is now an Invincibility Shield available only against the strongest the Workshop has to offer which makes Lilac fully invincible to level the field against these ridiculous OP characters. Not all OP characters are supported however, so the shield may not show up (it isn't working against UI Fox for instance).
- Multiple idle fidgets taken straight from Freedom Planet, including the voiced ones.

Moves Overview

First of all, she wield the mightiest of weapons in combat... hair!

Neutral Special - Dragon Star Whip/Cyclone

On the ground Lilac's hair glows with energy from a Dragon Star and she launches a boomerang projectile which doesn't travel far but has stun properties that allow you to rush in and hit your opponent. In the air she spins her hair tendrils in a curled circle to propel herself upwards, damaging any nearby foes in the process. This is also her double jump.

Forward Special - Dragon Boost

Not high enough? Lilac can curl into a ball, suspend herself in midair if airbourne and fly in straight lines at high speed in 6 directions in straight lines unless she hits a wall in which case she bounces off it. Can be cancelled by Special or jumping on the ground, in which case, the Boost Breaker is triggered. Holding the jump button while in this mode will allow you to wall jump instead of bouncing, useful for recovery if your vertical trajectory isn't enough to get you back on the stage. Using it while running will instead decrease your momentum until you zoom off and Lilac's top speed increases if you're grounded when the move ends.

Up Special - Spring

A conveniently placed spring launches Lilac into the air in a vertical motion, this can be followed up and can also be jump cancelled for enhanced vertical momentum. If used above a platform the spring will remain on stage and any fighter can be propelled into the air, though Lilac can gain additional momentum from Cyclone after bouncing off this again from the ground. The original code for making the spring stay on stage was done by the team who made the Sanic mod so full credit to them for the working stage spring code, I just adapted it to fit the character.

Down Special - Pangu Shield

Instead of summing shields out of nowhere (can dragons do that?) Lilac summons Pangu who provides the Shield crystal instead. All shields have 8 soft armour apart from Earth which has 12. Earth also breaks after an additional hit. While wearing a shield you have more resistance to knockback. The shields provide powerful effects but are tied to a rotating wheel and the effects are limited to the amount of hits they take.

- Fire Shield burns opponents and is immune to burn effects as well as Clairen's Plasma Stun and Mollo's Flash,
- Wood shield heals after attacking opponents and has immunity to Poison,
- Water shield provides Bubble Attack and Ice immunity,
- Earth shield protects against Maypul's marks and Olympia's Crystal Stun
- Metal shield protects against projectiles.

The majority of changes, and the reason that I started this anyway, was dissatisfaction with the AI. The recovery AI is bugged on the final article so I had done a local fix for it. This was the start of the entire thing. Here's all the other AI and cosmetic changes that have been applied to this character:

- Massively improved AI with a Level 7+ CPU option which takes advantage of advanced prediction to really provide a challenge and incorporating Dragon Dash into the main moveset.
- Proper working Dragon Dash AI recovery which is stage position dependent depending on which area she's trying to recover from.
- As of Version 2.0 Lilac has been given a complete resprite. Initially I just gave her a black outline but it still stuck out next to base cast so back to the drawing board.
- The animations for Cyclone and Dragon Dash have been given that extra polish to the point that they shine if you know what I mean... the dash animation has been iterated on since launch and now leaves a trail behind it.
- New rechange meter which shows you when the Dragon Dash has recharged, drains during use.
- Generic shields have been replaced with full animated shields from Freedom Planet, these were tweaked in Version 2.0 in appearance
- All sound effects have been updated to closely match the source material more.
- Fully voiced character in combat but that voice is completely optional and can be turned on and off with a button on the CSS.
- Victory screen win quote... yes, you read that right, she talks on the victory screen!
- 9 new custom costumes including ones based on other characters from Freedom Planet and a few based on characters from Sonic the Hedgehog. One of these has completely different voice lines and a different victory theme.
- As of version 2.0 she has a new CSS portrait and results screen. Even the CSS Portrait sparkles!
- New victory screen portrait
- Muno's CSS draw now incorporated into character select screen.
- Abyss Rune implementation with Ultra Instinct mode.
- Compatibility with Hikaru, Pokemon Stadium, Mt. Dedede, Miiverse, Palutena's Guidance, Unregistered Hypercam2, Dialog Buddy, Solid Snake, Amber, Green Flower Zone, Mamizou, Po & Gumbo, Henry Stickmin, Boxing Arena, Wall-E Taunt Sound, The Trial Grounds, Greenwood Town, Naruto, Chaos Emeralds and Howzit.
- Lilac now has a Final Smash, the Super Dragon Dash. This is a stronger, faster and longer lasting version of the normal Dragon Dash that doesn't put you into pratfall after it is over. For this Final Smash she also wields the Dragon Wings from Freedom Planet 2.

So yeah, that's a considerable amount of additions to the original. Again, full credit to Asgrid for the original mod.
