In the short time that scientists had to begin working toward a cure; at least before most facilities were overrun, they surprisingly found a way to test for the Knox Virus Infection. They realized that in the initial stages of infection the hormonal changes were similar to another biological reaction. The scientists simply repurposed existing tests in a near 100% indication rate of positive or negative infections. The outliers were almost certainly women who were actually pregnant, but could have potentially been naturally immune. Unfortunately, the labs were never able to actually test out the last bit, since most of the staff and patients were either ripped apart or turned from the virus. Before that however, they did notify the army, who wasted no time distributing them.
