Description
An overhaul to traits, height genes, personalities, opinions, and a few more modifiers to characters.

The overall goal is to make the world more dynamic with unique characters & more unpredictable indirect storytelling - Made with specifically roleplay in mind.

Choose and pick between 3 different rules, to specify which traits fit your liking.

What it do:
  • Complete overhauled all traits, their definers, modifiers, creation & design of how the traits impact the game.
  • Adding 40 new inheritable, congenital, generic, conditional or height traits.
  • Adding 121 new events connected to (Rellom’s New Traits & Petty Inheritable Traits)
  • Better balance between (GOOD & BAD) inheritable traits, moving closer to 50/50 rather than 40/60 in vanilla.
  • Heavily increased the amount of travel, vassal, government & other opinion modifiers, to generate a more diverse social interaction pool through traits.
  • Travel speed, safety & danger is added to many traits to expand on T&T mechanics.

Mods, concepts or ideas included in this overhaul:

Height Traits
Changes from original mod:
  1. Overhauled the height genes, so neither giants, enormous or towering are clipping off the UI character screen.
  2. Modified values & likelihood to more closely correspond with the overall concept.
Full credit to the author - Sirin & Humpty for creating this.

Petty Inheritable Traits
Changes from original mod:
  1. Modified values & likelihood to more closely correspond with the overall concept.
  2. Added new concept art.
  3. Added rare events.
Full credit to the author - Buddykenner for creating this.

Other mods confirmed working with this, see my collection.

UCS Standalone

I recommend a new save when applying this mod, but it is semi save compatible, overwriting existing height modifiers, changing them, and giving everyone a height trait. The script can take up to a year to search all characters before it applies it. The (game is slightly slower the first year for this reason.) Before the script finds new traits / heights for characters, they will look like dwarfs.

Other new traits are compatible, but need time to spawn from random triggers, which means there overall will be less of them compared to other traits already existing in the DNA pool if applied to a saved game.

Any chance you're going to update this awesomeness for 1.16 and Khans of the Steppe?

Can you make your characters 10ft+? You use to be able to create true giants.

@Aeoldir

go to [Mod's folder]\common\traits

there you'll find a text document called "Rellom_over_traits".

you'll find all the vanilla traits in that document.

under each trait you find a line that says: "ruler_designer_cost = 50". change it to fit your needs.

@Rellom
Not sure how to start this, so i'll be blunt.

As i have been playing, I had noticed in Ruler designer how each personality trait is priced the same at fifty each.

I know it isn't my place to question your methods, as there could be reason for it being there. So would you or someone tell me of a way i could edit it myself?
So I can somewhat personalize it and re-balance?

Such as where to go for the editing process. So far i had thought it could be accessed through the mod folder, then go to common. But that is as far as i got so far. All i need is the location for vanilla personality traits, then i can experiment to see if it actually works on my end.
I've noticed how at the end each code there is the ruler designer price for each, which i could potentially edit to fit my personal needs.

As you can probably tell, i am not as experienced in coding so i do not know these things.
Help would be appreciated. Thank you.

@Rellom

By the way disregard my previous comment about vassal limit.

I’m so used to playing with mods that I was truly surprised when I started the game vanilla and discovered that vanilla vassal limit is 50+ for a king!

(To be honest I never noticed this mechanic until I started to play with dark ages.. I’ll keep an eye for more soft incompatibilities between dark ages and this mod)

@BrazilianHub

go to [Mod's folder]\common\traits and open the text document called "Rellom_over_traits".

search for "Fortune Builder" in that file; under it you'll see some modifiers.

you want to fix this line: build_gold_cost = 0.2 // (change it to: build_gold_cost = -0.2)

thanks for pointing it out!

Fortune Builder Education Trait has a +20% building construction cost, I'm assuming it is meant to be -20% as Midas touch has a -40% building construction cost. Wondering if you could give it a fix?
