Description
This mod lets you customize the in-game music, and provides a new main menu track as an example.
NOTE: This does not automatically install. You need to do some manual installation. It's worth it though.

I was interested in changing the main menu music for several reasons and found out it's quite a bit of work. Luckily, I did the research and wrote down all of the steps for you, whether you want to do it yourself, or just vibe to this retro groove I made.

Instructions
Read the discussion post or open the README.txt file in the mod folder.
You can also download this mod from Google Drive. Just follow the link in the description of the YouTube video (Steam doesn't like external URLs).

Trivia
Did you know that the menu theme choir is literally chanting "Project Zomboid" (phonetically "Proyekt Zombi")? I thought it was pretty cool... until I had to keep listening to it each time I was working on a mod. I got sick of it and composed a track of my own.

Besides the intro loading music, I'm not too interested in making more tracks, since I listen to other music mods while in-game, such as True Music or Immersive CD Players.

Also, did you know that Bob is actually eating his wife Kate in the main menu? Yeah...

Compatibility
  • Compatible with every mod
  • Multiplayer compatible & save-game compatible

Issues Noticed
Long wait times or music cuts out - this is because the files do not match the original track length. The game accounts for how long each track is in separate variables. The main menu track currently has this issue, and I don't know how to fix it yet. It's not a bug, it's a feature. Get out of the main menu!

Thanks for that bit of triva, very interesting to know; however I could see how one may mistake the chanting for "Are we dead, Bobby?"

Thank you for your answer Have a nice day

That is a different track, but good news is that there is only one and it is pretty short. You will have to find out the file name because I do not remember it, but the process is very much the same. Your players will have to manually replace their music file unfortunately, it is not supported by the steam workshop.

Hello.
I'm a foreigner, so it's hard to understand
I just want to change the loading music when connecting to the Dedicate server. What should I do?

@Panopticon that is where I'm confused at. there are 3 intro files that are relevant for the intro music, then there are 4 intro design layer files. If anyone could explain how these work, then I think I could grasp an understanding for it all more. I'm learning how to do more with modding than just adding items into the game.

So, there are three main menu tracks. The example I provide replaces all three with my own track. The result is three versions of my same track.
For the intro music, or what plays as you're entering the game and loading it, it is either one track or split up into parts, I don't remember. If it is split into parts, then you will need to do the same to yours. Extract the originals from the archive and listen to them to get a better idea of what they are doing.

could I make the intro music play only 1 track? IDK if I'm understanding it right. I might not be. Could be because I'm Higher than gas prices right now LOL.

It's the original menu screen but saturated and contrasted. I'm not sure how to modify the dynamic lightning flash to make it look the same.

Could we have that menu screen?
