Description: SCP-4494 is the physical embodiment of the idea of fighting crime. SCP-4494 usually appears at night to assist law enforcement agencies in clashes with superior forces of criminals. He appears as a human-like being of male sex and indeterminate age, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a long cloak, calling himself a Ghost. As soon as the help is successfully provided, the object disappears, although it is known that he conducts short conversations with people who were on the spot before his appearance.2

SCP-4494 also has a number of minor physical anomalies. He absorbs a significant part of the light in the visible spectrum, which makes him look almost completely black, in addition, he is able to change the length of the cloak at will, but it seems that this ability is used only to maintain the effect. In addition, it has several minor properties that carry an information threat. The mention of an object in the text will manifest itself using stylistic and dramatic font, and the person who verbally mentions SCP-4494 will invariably speak with a characteristic whisper.

If SCP-4494 is unable to assist the party to the conflict that caused its appearance, then the very idea of preventing criminal activity will begin to disappear at the conceptual level. This effect will be observed in an ever-expanding zone around SCP-4494, the radius of which will increase at a speed of 100 km/h. People inside this zone are no longer able to perceive crimes as actions that require prevention, which entails the immediate termination of all civil, local and federal law enforcement activities by the people involved in this event.

To date, the only method to eliminate such an effect is to allow SCP-4494 to successfully assist law enforcement agencies in preventing the crime being committed. Thus, it is assumed that if the counteraction effect of SCP-4494 becomes global, it will be impossible to reverse it. It should be noted that SCP-4494 apparently considers the Foundation to be a law enforcement organization, but such tasks are not within our area of responsibility, and therefore such an effect rarely manifests itself during the work of field agents.

Addendum: The following is the protocol of a typical meeting between Foundation staff and SCP-4494. To date, this has happened seven times, not counting the initial attempts at containment.

Note: MOG Sigma-12 ("Mary's Sheep") participated in a raid on a facility where an abnormal drug known as "Warp" was allegedly produced and distributed. The subjects who were in the building suddenly used abnormal weapons and the group was pinned down by fire. The group consisted of five people.

A beam of white energy silently dematerializes part of the box behind which Holtz is hiding.

Samper: Where the ♥♥♥♥ did they get these things? We were supposed to have just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dealers here!

Allard looks out from behind a car used as a shelter and fires several shots. Screams of pain can be heard on the recording, indicating a hit. Two white beams of energy strike the square, dematerializing Allard and the machine.

Cranston: Allard is killed, we have to ots…

A beam of white energy hits Cranston, dematerializing her. Thick fog begins to ooze over the ground, quickly filling the entire room.

Holtz: ♥♥♥♥, ♥♥♥♥! Samper, we have to retreat, three of our people are dead, and they decided to use some kind of gas or…

SCP-4494: Criminals! Likhodei!

The video camera on Samper's helmet catches a quick movement, as if something appeared, falling from the ceiling beams to the ground with a thud.

SCP-4494: Inhabitants of the night! Your time has come, now you will meet…

The sound of blows, accompanied by muffled cries of pain that can be heard in the distance.

SCP-4494: GHOST!

Unidentified voice: What the ♥♥♥♥ was that! Get it out! Pull it out-

A choking scream is heard.

Holtz: What the ♥♥♥♥ was that? What kind of Ghostly dude is this- wait a second, what the ♥♥♥♥. ♥♥♥♥, we've got a second anomaly on the scene!

Samper: Wait, I think I've been informed what this thing is, it's-

SCP-4494: Fear not, Agents of justice! Help is already here!

The fog dissipates quickly. In the distance, you can see a black figure engaged in hand-to-hand combat with three opponents.

Holtz: Whoever he is, it looks like he's on our side, let's get this over with!

After a brief firefight, the surviving members of Sigma-12 were able to successfully use the actions of SCP-4494 as a distraction and re-attack the opponents. Repeated sounds of blows accompanied by screams of pain, along with several shots from conventional weapons, are heard from SCP-4494. After about 40 seconds, all opponents are neutralized.

SCP-4494: Justice has been done. The streets will no longer be poisoned by these devils and their dirty poisons.

Holtz: Hey, you should proy…

Samper grabs Holtz's arm, shaking his head briefly.

Samper: Thank you. We, uh, we couldn't have done it without you.…
