TTX Front Runner

The TTX Front Runner was an obscure, yet peculiar intermodal spine car. Very little information exists about this specific type of freight car, however according to TTX themselves, the Front Runner was 50ft long and first constructed in 1984. By the 1990s, the evident problems with single-axle, lightweight intermodal cars had long reared their ugly heads. The front runners were simply too light and any kind of heavy movement tended to cause them to jump the tracks. All the Front Runners were withdrawn and scrapped in the 1990s and early 2000s bar one: TTOX 130059 which, paired with MoPac trailer 253273, is preserved at the Museum of Transportation in Missouri as of 2015.

As for the editing side, this car was a pet project of mine that I've always wanted to do. The single-axle curiosity was always something I wanted to model just because it's such an out there and unorthodox design. This model is also where I first dabbled in custom wheels (I didn't do so well, but they look fine given the car itself). I used TTOX 130059 as my main reference model due to the multitude of pictures of it that exist vs other Front Runners. This was a fun model to make and quite the challenge.
