Description
Adds a new district: The Garden an alternative Appeal-based district to the Preserve to Gathering Storm. Recommended to play alongside my Preserve rework.

Concept
On the Preserve Rework I refocused the Preserve as a hybrid of Faith and Science, with a touch of Diplomatic Favor. However sometimes you want to focus on making your cities beautiful for the sake of culture, of tourism and of money. The Garden now provides this option.

The Garden is a district that can only be built on cities without Preserves, allowing the player to pick a different bonus from Appealing tiles in a given city. It also provides Great Artist and Great Engineer points from early on which is pretty useful in a Cultural game, as it means more Great Works and grabbing the early Engineers that are more focused on Appeal and World Wonders. However, unlike the Preserve it doesn't claim adjacent tiles, making it less viable if you want to grab appealing tiles early.

Garden
A district that takes advantage of Appeal in surrounding tiles increasing their Appeal by 1. Provides up to +3 Culture based on the Appeal of its tile.
May be built on tiles with Woods, Rainforests and Floodplains. When built in a tile with Breathtaking Appeal, the Garden also allows other Districts in the city to be built on the same Features.[/list]

Pavilion
Provides Gold based on the Garden's base Culture bonus. Also provides Great Artist and Great Engineer points. Contains a Great Work slot for any Great Work.
  • +1 Culture and +1 Gold to adjacent land Charming Tiles.
  • +2 Culture and +2 Gold to adjacent unimproved land Breathtaking Tiles.
  • +1 Culture and +1 Gold to adjacent coast tiles.
  • +2 Culture and +2 Gold to adjacent unimproved coast tiles with features.

Conservatory
Doubles the Culture and Gold bonuses granted to adjacent tiles by the Pavilion. Allows their city to purchase Naturalists with Faith. Also provides Great Artist and Great Engineer points.
+8 Tourism if built on a Breathtaking tile.

Garden Landscaping
District-based project which increases Appeal at the city's tiles by 1 while produced. Earns Great Artist and Great Engineer points upon completion.
Other Changes:
  • The Garden also provides a major adjacency for Theater Squares, Campuses and Holy Sites; much like my reworked Preserve, so it isn't as punishing to build districts next to it.
  • As other districts, the Garden also provides a trade bonus (Food for Domestic, Culture for International)
  • The Biòsphere wonder now requires a Garden with a Conservatory instead of a Neighborhood to be built (still requires a river.

Recommended Mods
  • This mod was designed to work alongside my Preserve Rework mirroring the effects of the reworked Preserve but with a different focus.
  • Since having icons is always nice, I recommend playing with Appeal, Loyalty and Prestige (Diplo VP) Font Icons
  • This mod was designed alongisde the Wildlife Game Mode I made based on Shirotora's + Deliverator Wildlife mod, mirroring the effects from the Preserve in that case.
  • The Preserve works nicely with Sukritact's Oceans mod, which I highly recommend if you don't have it already.
  • If you feel the bonuses are too strong you might be interested in these Preserve Food and Production Nerfs

Fyi: Even though this isn't said anywhere, this mod also changes the requirements for the Eiffel Tower to an adjacent garden, not just the biosphere. Both descriptions of the wonders are changed to reflect this as well, so it may conflict with the text from other mods that change those wonders.

@NuDDen Oh! Thank you, I didn't realize it was integrated now. Very cool

@Bob U can do it. Just enable it when starting a new game.

What happened to the mod that allowed placing both a garden and a preserve in the same city? Was that ever a thing? Asking for sanity's sake

I have created an extension mod: Leugi's Garden District - Cooks
    * Gardens start with a Pavillion for games beginning in the Renaissance Era or later

@Leugi feel free to include any of this in your mod if its to your liking.

I don't know why but the mod stopped working? Has anyone else had this happen?

Why doesn't the Garden give you a culture bomb like the Preserve? It weakens the district significantly

Is there any mod (i can't seem to find one by you) that introduces Policy Cards or (added) Government Bonuses to the Preserve/Garden and their buildings?

If there isnt, cards that would give you a Production Bonus (like a 20% bonus) to the district & buildings (like the 30% you get for Encampments/Harbors & their buildings.) If not that, something that increases the District's Housing of +1 to something (like just doubling it +2,) if you like. OR +1 Amenity based on every 2 adj Features (not burnt - Forest/Jungle/Marsh/Oasis/Geo Fissure/Vol Soil/Reef/Kelp.) OR a card that would give Resources adj to the district(either one) Double their yield bonus (still unimproved) AND give +1 Local Amenity to just that city for each unimproved Luxury Resource next to it.

Besides that, been having some great games with your mods. Though, idk why the AI prioritizes Garden much more than other districts, and rarely ever see the Preserves. Just an observation.

Though I will say, I never do that City Projects. They are waaay too expensive imo, compared to the other districts throughout the whole game. Might be something to tweak for the Garden and Preserve projects.
