Ilyushin Il-2M Sturmovik Tankbuster by Uncle T

My take on the iconic Soviet Ilyushin Il-2M Sturmovik ground attack plane.

It's an approximation, not a 1:1 replica.

"During the war, 36,183 units of the Il-2 were produced, and in combination with its successor, the Ilyushin Il-10, a total of 42,330 were built, making it the single most produced military aircraft design in aviation history, as well as one of the most produced piloted aircraft in history along with the American postwar civilian Cessna 172 and the German then-contemporary Messerschmitt Bf 109."

It's often called "The Flying Tank" and has a reputation for busting German tanks left, right and center, and while both these statements are quite a bit overexaggerated it definitely was a capable plane with a big impact on enemy forces on the ground and in the air.

This "tankbuster" version is armed with 2 fixed 7.62 mm ShKAS machine guns in the wings and it replaced the two 23 mm cannons in the wings with 2 more powerful 37 mm cannons in pods under the wings. It has one rearward firing 12.7 mm Berezin UBT machine gun.
It also carries 4 RS-132 unguided rockets, but no bombs because of the added weight of the larger guns.
It was first used at the battle of Kursk with limited success, but about 3,500 were still built.

Alt controls to fly.
W/S: Variable throttle.
A/D: Ground steering/Yaw.
Up/Down arrow: Pitch.
Left/Right arrow: Roll.
X/Disable steering: Landing gear.
Hold X/Invert steering: Bomb bay doors (not in use).
L/Headlight: Landing light.
K/Hazard light : Sight illumination.
B/Beacon Fire in the engine!
Fire action 1/Num 1: Machine guns.
Fire action 2/Num 2: 37 mm cannons.
Fire action 5-8/Num 5-8: Rockets.

NOTE!!!
This is one of the planes that just can't go straight on the ground, so when approaching 80 kph, give full pitch up and you will take off before the rear wheel leaves the ground and the plane freaks out.
