Description
Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to present to you: POSTAL 2 Essentials (Or POSTAL 2+ if you'd prefer that). A collection full of add-ons that definitively improve POSTAL 2. The third collection in the "essentials' series" after Garry's Mod Essentials and People Playground Essentials.

POSTAL 2 Essentials is a collection full of add-ons I've found scattered around the rather small workshop that simply add more. These are the kinds of add-ons that are so well-made and so polished, that you almost wonder why they're not in the game already. This collection doesn't aim to rebuild POSTAL 2 from the ground up or overhaul its graphics (Not like that'd be very possible), this collection simply aims to build on-top of and refine what was already there - In other words, the goal of the collection is to enhance POSTAL 2 overall with as few "catches" as possible. I'd like to note that I wasn't just doing this blindly, however. I had a few priorities that I followed whilst making this (In-order of importance):

  • The base mechanics of the game cannot be overhauled completely, only enhanced or expanded upon. I want every add-on in POSTAL 2 Essentials to feel a polished addition to the game, mostly quality-of-life improvements, not like an unnecessary change... Not like there are many mods on the workshop that overhaul base mechanics anyway :/
  • No maps or gamemodes to speak of, other than Sandbox. Pretty much *everyone* has different tastes when it comes to what they're looking for in a POSTAL 2 map or campaign, so I'm not gonna bother trying to package anything in. If you're looking for good maps, though, than I highly recommend browsing the "Good Maps" collection here.
  • Notoriously buggy or unstable add-ons are not allowed. I want these improvements to be as widely agreeable as possible, the last thing I need is an add-on that crashes the game if you sneeze on it!
  • No add-ons that add things to the players' inventory upon map entry. I personally view it as a lazy and antithetical way to give the player new weaponry or functionality. The only exception is the Mighty Fists because it makes logical sense.

  • No add-ons that require manual installation. The idea of POSTAL 2 Essentials, and the Essentials collection family in-general, is to give new-comers and frequent players alike a quick and *convenient* way to definitively improve their games, and manual installation goes against that goal.

Be sure to take these priorities into account before hitting that 'Subscribe to all' button... Or don't, I'm not your dad.

For those who'd like to know what they're getting into, I did you the courtesy of listing everything this "mega"-collection changes, and some of the add-ons you have to thank. Feel free to take a look, and decide for yourself what you like or don't like:

[NOTE: List seen below is also the order of which add-ons are sorted in the collection itself]

  • Expanded / Enhanced functionality, mostly thanks to xPatch. As long as xPatch is properly applied, you should have far more options available to you, including headshot functionality, expanded choice of gore effects, etc
  • Numerous minor gameplay tweaks / improvements, thanks to Inferior Modpack 2, Cop Weapon Replacer, LimbWeapons 2.0, etc. Most of these changes are small ones, such as giving the police better weapons or being able to pick up limbs, but sadly Inferior Modpack 2 also packs in some more extreme changes such as insta-death for all damage, etc, so I don't recommend having everything on at once. Just play around with everything and see what you like and don't like!
  • New bleeding-edge visual improvements, thanks to the Eternal Damnation HUD, First Person Body - Beta, ScreenFX, etc. Small effects that make a big difference!
  • I'd add "Numerous new toys to play with" here, if there were any on the workshop that weren't just slapped into your inventory upon map load. So just enjoy using your new Holy Hand Grenade, I suppose? :/
  • A larger variation of bystanders to roam the streets, thanks to Hima's Female Skins, Old Timer Bystanders and Construction Worker Bystanders. Nothing wrong with a little less repetition, I say
  • Minor bug fixes, thanks primarily to xPatch and Fix Bug Head Dude. Much welcome improvements in this notoriously janky game!

This collection will be updated as I find more polished add-ons. Also note that you're free to comment on the collection here if you would like to share your thoughts or suggestions. If you experience any issues playing POSTAL 2 Essentials, especially if it involves add-ons outside of the collection itself; Please consult Running With Scissors' official bug resources[www.gopostal.com] for assistance. If you like my collection: Then leaving a like or even sharing the collection with friends would really help, and would prevent me from coming to your home and making your surviving family members so it instead. Feel free to share the essential infection! Thanks. ~Crigence
