Anomaly Class: Archon

Special conditions of detention: Copies of SCP-4634-1 to -128 are stored in the archive of anomalous materials of Zone 90, along with information regarding Incident 4634-002. Instances of SCP-4634-129 to -256 are currently being monitored at their respective detection sites — where possible, the sites have been isolated using bulkheads used in the maintenance of objects in the Fund and placed under permanent protection. It is strictly forbidden to remove any documents, whether SCP-4634 or not, from these places.

Description: SCP-4634 is 256 characters "not working". All copies are made of paper, and the information on them depends on their location - the content of the copy of SCP-4634 installed on the door of a particular room changes, imitating existing signs of a similar nature. If such a pre—existing designation does not exist, the instance will try to conform to the geographical, cultural and conceptual norms of its environment - it is unknown how the object analyzes these norms, as well as the amount of analytical abilities involved. The instance will maintain the provided form until it is placed at another suitable entrance.

Any room 2 to the entrance of which an instance of SCP-4634 is placed loses all ability to meet the intended purpose. The specificity of this effect varies widely and (as with the definition of the word 'room') operates on the principle of semi-intuitive internal logic. Placing multiple instances of SCP-4634 at once does not affect the result. The changes caused by SCP-4634 will immediately reverse after removing the sign placed at the doorway. Placing SCP-4634 near a free-standing doorway or on the inside of a door leading to the outside has no effect whatsoever. Application.2.

Room: Experimental kitchen No. 7 of the culinary department.

Effect: All mechanical parts of the devices fused in place, losing mobility. Cutlery was distorted and twisted beyond recognition, and all hard countertops and cutting boards acquired a soft, flexible and somewhat adhesive structure. An hour later, D-000014 was brought into the room along with a large amount of fruits and vegetables, and he was instructed to cook food — it was impossible to do this because of the rapid rotting of all edible products.

Effect : The legs of the beds fell off, and the springs in the mattress unclenched, penetrating through the fabric lining. The chest of drawers and wardrobe collapsed, while the individual components were deformed so that reassembly was impossible. The brightness of the lamps increased by three orders of magnitude, and it was not possible to turn them off. D-000014 was provided with a blindfold and protective headgear, after which he was ordered to sleep on the floor of the room; as soon as he entered, the fire extinguishing system was activated, spraying large volumes of molten copper.

Room: Reinforced holding cell S90-A03.

Effect : The contents of the room instantly moved 64 meters to the north. All the objects brought into the room moved in the same way.

Effect : Further tests were carried out, and the camera was identified as a potential method of instant transportation. The first test relevant to this goal was conducted with the participation of D-000014: after entering the room, D-000014 moved 64 meters to the north, as expected; however, his skin and nervous system moved 64 meters to the south. The test was completed and a copy of SCP-4634 was removed.

Room: A specially constructed room with no specific purpose.

Effect: Tests cannot be performed. Notes are limited to 128 characters.

All instances of SCP-4634 found to date were originally located inside 128 huge stone monuments randomly located across the entire surface of the Earth. Each of the monuments had a door leading to an inner room with a stone elevation of unknown purpose, and an identical copy of SCP-4634 in an unknown language was located on the inside of each of these doors. Since the removal of the copies did not suffer any initial effects, they were withdrawn without incident.

On 06.12.1994, at 03:44 local time, SCP-4634-128 was removed from the monument in the Puisegur Ocean trench and removed from the inside of the door. Over the next few hours, large-scale anomalous effects were observed, including:

[03:46] All astronomical bodies have entered circular orbits with perpendicular axes of rotation.
[03:47] The asteroid belt has merged into one ring with uniform density.
[03:59] The placement of stars in the galaxy according to a uniform grid structure.
[05:00] Arrangement of silicon compounds into hexagonal fractal patterns up to several kilometers long.
[05:59] Arrangement of carbon compounds into square fractal patterns up to several hundred kilometers long.
[08:40] Combining inert gases into low-temperature crystal structures.
[10:16] The destruction of all self-reproducing compounds and the subsequent death of all living things.
The resulting scenario of the ontological shift of class O0 continued for an unspecified period of time, after which another 128 monuments materialized with another 128 instances, and all the changes reversed. No traces of this incident were found in our reality — the information presented here is derived from data from isolated monitoring zones and DEEPWELL institutions.

Also inside each new monument there is another, non-anomalous document in the same language as the original copy of SCP-4634, seemingly written more hastily than its anomalous counterpart. As with the original copies of SCP-4634, they are still not translated. The plan to maintain SCP-4634 was canceled shortly thereafter, and there are currently no plans to restore it. It is believed that in the best interests of the Foundation, the universe as a whole should remain non-functional.
