Description
Shaqilath leads the Nabataeans
This mod adds the Nabatean Kingdom, lead by Queen Shaqilath, as a new playable faction in Sid Meier's Civilization VI. Shaqilath co-ruled Nabataea alongside her husband Aretas IV from 16 to 40 A.D at the peak of Nabataean economic and cultural prosperity, called the Golden Age of the Nabataeans. Shaqilath inspired her people to build magnificent feats of architecture and engineering. During her co-reign, the most important buildings and architectural features were established in Petra, Mada'in Salih, and other Nabataean cities including the amphitheater, Qasr el-Bint (the temple of Dushares), and Al Khazneh (the Treasury), which can still be seen today.


Leader Unique Ability: Flourishing at Petra
+4 Faith from Monuments in cities within 6 tiles of a Wonder, increasing to +8 Faith if the Wonder is no more than one Era older than the most advanced Civic or Technology that Nabataea has unlocked. With Conservation, Monuments generate Tourism equal to Faith.

Civilization Unique Ability: Master Architects and Stonemasons of the Desert
+1 Production from desert. Industrial Zones gain +1 adjacency bonus from adjascent districts.

Unique Unit: Camel Archer
Nabatean unique Classical era anti-cavalry unit that replaces the Spearman. Fast moving in desert. High melee strength and an optional ranged attack, Range 2.

Unique Improvement: Bi'area
+0.5 Housing. This tile cannot be worked.

Provides +1 Food to adjacent desert tiles, and +1 Faith to adjacent resources (on any terrain). Additional yields from multiple nearby Bi'area do not stack until Feudalism is unlocked.

Can only be built on flat desert and desert hills. Cannot be built next to another Bi'area.

Start Bias

Nabataea has a Tier 1 start bias[civilization.fandom.com] towards desert and desert hills. If the map has desert, the spawn placement algorithm will highly prioritize placing Nabataea near it. (It's the same as Mali, except without Mali's additional Tier 5 bias towards resources that can be improved with a mine.)

Mod Compatibility and DLC requirements

* Gathing Storm is required
* It is not compatible with any mod that changes the number of Eras (eg: 6T eras)
* It works well with CPL mods: BBG, BBS, and MPH

FAQ

Q: I just unlocked a tech/civic from era X, but my Faith generation didn't change! Is Shaqilath's leader ability working?
A: Yes. It updates the Faith on the start of the turn AFTER you unlock a tech/civic from a new era. So just click "Next Turn"!

This is a really fun mod, enjoyed playing with this civ.
There is a slight issue with the city names - on US ENG localisation, a bunch of the city names show up as LOC_CITY_NAME_CPR_NABA_# instead of properly localised names.
