Ladies, gentlemen, and everyone in between, there's something I want you to know. I don't mind if you take my creations, reupload and/or repurpose them, like hexing and retextures or recompiles, if you credit me. Because the mods I make may take anywhere from half an hour to several days of hard work, depending on scale of the project and the various stepping stones along the way. A link to the original mod, or just a mention of my name would be enough, I'm not asking for much. Except there's an extra requirement that not everyone seems to... comprehend the concept of.

It's "don't be an @$$hole".

Simple, innit? And yet so hard. Because if I find you a terrible person (it's a very low bar, so you have to be outright repulsive), then I don't want you to touch my creations in any way. I don't want your touch taint my things, however simple they are, even if it's a HUD icon that I made by slapping my toes on a keyboard. You can play your games with them, because they are for everyone to use. But as soon as you're editing things that I created, then you're stepping into a different legal territory. If you like comparing mods to Pepsi cans, then playing with a mod is buying a Pepsi can and drinking it. I made a thing and you're enjoying it. But editing my mods is making your own licensed Pepsi cans with altered flavors, while reuploading them elsewhere is akin to selling Pepsi in a different region. But if you release a product you name "Pepsi Z" and openly promote the genocide of Ukrainians by Russian soldiers, homophobia, and other hateful crap, then I will very definitely Cease-and-Desist your butt.

Once upon a time I came up with a small laser sight upgrade station replacement, but there was a demand of at least three people to become a radio replacement. They went ahead and "stole" my mod complete with a link to the original, but seem to have removed it at a later point for some reason. Then comes the hero of today, Mordred, who reuploaded the mod that disappeared. Even typing this fills me with bile. An openly homophobic edgelord, who considers the Taliban "based". The Taliban, Carl! And he's supporting the pro-war propaganda by mentioning 'Murica bombing every other country in Africa and the Middle East. Because of course! If America can bomb countries, so should Russia! That makes perfect sense! So yeah, I filed a DMCA report to take the mod down and even considered making my own version of it.

Didn't keep the bugger from uploading it again and calling me slurs, which I have not seen for two months. In addition to that, he uploaded a screenshot of the DMCA notice he received, which includes my personal information. I am legally obliged to provide those when I file a DMCA complaint. And it is very uncool (read: a violation of rules) to share those to the public, even if said public is a dozen people on your friend list. He's not just mocking me, he is mocking the Steam moderation for being powerless against such... fine members of the community. Such people will not stop reuploading downed stuff unless they get a perma-ban. And they'll never get one, because freedom of speech. They will get away with anything short of pictures of Hitler carving a swastika on a dead baby's forehead. We can only cry about it, which we will do. Because we want Steam to be a better place for a better community.

Anyway, this radio replacement has no laser aiming modules, which were the whole point of the original laser sights replacement. Instead it gets a wireless mouse! Enjoy!
