ExtraNoise's TV Channel 13

Description
Louisville's newest television channel just went live! WLNY Channel 13's motto is "The only channel you need!" for a reason: It features all your favorite new syndicated shows and classic favorites from yesterday. It has Saturday morning cartoons for the kids and weekday evening sitcoms and dramas for the parents. Using the latest in computer automation technology keeps our costs down and our programming on-air, which means we can afford ALL your favorites!

Unfortunately, the apocalypse just happened...

About Channel 13
This mod adds a new TV channel to the game. WLNY is based out of Louisville and uses the latest computer technology that allows for shows to be programmed well in advance, meaning that it will continue to broadcast even if no one is in the studio to run it.

It is designed to be universe and lore-friendly. Most of the shows (especially reruns) do not reference events going on in the world (the, uh... the zombies) but "live" shows such as the nightly standup show or weekly Sunday-morning sermon broadcasting will get more panicked until going off the air. I made sure to thoroughly go through the entirety of Knox Infection events and carefully reconstructed their order and timing to ensure it's accurate. If Indie Stone update this in the future I will attempt to update this mod asap.

Shows generally are an hour long with commercials (sometimes) between episodes. Shows are designed to reduce boredom (generally) with some shows inducing stress from plot elements before reducing stress as the show's plot is resolved. Because watching TV is entertainment in real life, watching WLNY Channel 13 is a net benefit to mood. And some shows impart knowledge and skills, just like Life and Living TV (but to a lesser degree).

Programming text mimic's the base-game's with spoken text in different colors (by character), music description flanked by musical notes, and descriptive sounds wrapped in chevrons. There is little-to-no swearing, save for some "light" cursing on late night programming and movies. It's the '90s!

Eventually, even WLNY will go off-air as pre-programmed shows run out.

The Programming
Everything is modeled after programming in the early-to-mid 1990s and, like the rest of the Zomboid universe, is akin to real life but doesn't use real-life names. As you catch episodes playing on random TVs in the game, see if you can spot which show is based on what. I've had a lot of fun writing these.

Weekday day-time programming is pretty typical, with a national morning show and then talk shows followed by game shows and soap operas. Then cartoons in the afternoon followed by an investigative magazine show and then scifi re-runs. Weekday evening programming is different each night, featuring more interesting dramas and comedies.

On the weekends, there are Saturday-morning cartoons and Saturday matinees, as well as a live sketch comedy show late at night. Sunday mornings have the good word with a Sunday devotional and some DIY shows following the Sunday matinee.

A Note...

Right now this the first full release, and only has three days of TV shows. I appreciate everyone's enthusiasm after the initial release to continue adding more shows. I am now working on a fourth day and will update this mod as soon as it's completed.

As always, please feel free to use the contents of this mod for your own mods, game edits, server packs, or whatever. No credit needed, happy to share.

tl;dr
This mod adds a TV station to the game that has (effectively) non-stop programming throughout the day that will play on random televisions or that you can watch to reduce boredom, unhappiness, stress, and panic. Some shows teach you some skills. Late-night programming will make you sleepy to help maintain those precious REM cycles. The programming is vanilla-friendly and lore-friendly and will eventually run out since the station programmers are all zombs now. But for a few days at the beginning of a game the TV is welcome company. This is what I wish the TV stations would have been.

Is there a way to make it so the TV programs don't shut off?? I like having them on for later in my playthroughs.

So, it works on existing saves? Like for MP?

Thank you for this! the background noise on the tv channels is so much better than the default (hearing The Nanny jingle was a blast from the past let me tell you!) Looking forward to any updates! Is there any way you could include alternate versions that use the default TV channels TURBO and/or WBLN News instead? This channel replaces another modded channel, The Yard for mechanics which I also use. It would be cool to be able to use both at the same time :spiffo:

Love this mod, hopefully it's still being worked on. One of the more creative mods out there imo.

*sigh* Looking for a good TV/Radio mod for my 1 year survived save (you can imagine it gets boring) but I guess sadly it just isn't possible to make a good mod that will work on an already existing save. This would've been perfect. Hopefully one day... I'll favorite this mod because I like the idea, but I just can't get myself to start a new game.

can I add this mid-game??
