Cat Cards

Description
CAT CARDS
A game for 2-4 players

This game was designed by me (Turntboast), and all card art was also made by me.

(These rules can also be found in the Notebook)

SETUP:
Shuffle the deck and form three face up piles of 1 card each from the top of the deck. Then each player draws 3 cards from the deck to form their starting hand. The player who most recently pet a cat goes first. Alternatively, the player who placed last in the previous game goes first.

HOW TO PLAY:
Each turn the active player reveals the top card of the deck and chooses one of the face-up piles to add the card to. (Make sure that the properties of all cards in the pile remain visible to all players.) A pile cannot contain more than 4 cards at one time. If all piles already have 4 cards at the sart of your turn, skip this step.

Then, the active player chooses to either pick up cards, or form a set.

PICKING UP CARDS:
If you choose to pick up cards, choose one of the face-up piles of cards and add every card in that pile to your hand. Afterwards, replace that pile with a new card drawn from the top of the deck.

FORMING SETS:
To form a set, a player reveals exactly five cards from their hand that follow these rules:

1. The set contains at least 2 cats that all share at least 1 color. (White, Black, Orange or Blue)

2. The set contains no more than 1 type of toy card. (Scratching Post, Laser Pointer or Toy Mouse) It can contain multiple copies of the same toy.

These rules are slightly different if your set contains Sphynx and/or Siamese cats:

- Sphynx cats do not have a color, and thus can only be played with other Sphynx cats, and Siamese cats. (You still need at least 2 total cats to form a set)

- Siamese cats can be played as any one color of your choice (including colorless, to be played with Sphynxes), but a set can only contain exactly 2 Siamese cats.

When you form a set, place the set of cards face up in front of you, and score points equal to the total point value of the cats in the set. Toy cards are not worth any points on their own, but may be worth additional points at the end of the game. (See 'End of Game Scoring')

After your turn, play continues clockwise. When a player forms their fifth set, each other player is given one additional turn to form a set with their current hand, after which the game ends and 'End of Game Scoring' occurs.

END OF GAME SCORING:
Once the game ends, each player may double check that their current score matches the total score of all of their completed sets. Then, whichever player has the largest number of Scratching Post cards among their completed sets, scores an additional 15 points. Then the same is done for the Toy Mouse, and Laser Pointer cards. If multiple players tie for the most toys of a given type, nobody receives the score bonus for that toy.

Finally, any players with cards left in their hand, receive negative points equal to the total value of the cat cards in their hand, plus an additional 2 point penalty for each Toy card in their hand.

Once final scoring is complete, the player with the highest score wins.
