Introducing the ONRC - ‘Shuriken’ - Light Frigate

"As production of larger ships such as the Mainstay and Longsword steadied, ONRC high command saw a requirement to commission longer range, heavier escort ships than were currently provided, in order to better protect such expensive assets. As much of a success as the Frontier class was, the need for jump capable sub-capitals began to show more and more, especially with the expansion efforts that were already stretching the largest vessels in the fleet to breaking point. And so the Shuriken was born, a mix of Range, Firepower, and Armour that whilst moderately expensive, would be well worth the investment for maintaining and protecting the larger cornerstones of the Olympian fleet. The addition of these new midrange vessels also provided an easier means to perform long ranged reconnaissance, as well as wolfpack insertions on enemy supply lines and staging grounds - abilities that would prove highly sought after in the weeks and months to come..."

The shuriken is a small but well armed escort craft designed to provide supporting fire for larger capital ships as well as act independently from a fleet as a recon or strike unit if necessary. It features 6 Artillery turrets, 2 Assault turrets and 6 Point Defence Gatling turrets, as well as 4 railguns and 2 salvo firing missile pods.

In necessary cases (or if you just don’t like them), the shuriken can ditch its rings and assume a more sleek profile. Encased in the rings are 3 decoys per side, which should give distraction from incoming fire if attached to, or nearby the main structure.

Although in stock configuration fairly costly for its size in both PCU and blocks, the shuriken can take in and deal out a large amount of damage for its size, from short range or long, making it ideal for the wide range of tasks and duties commonly expected of the frigate designation.

I am likely going to be going radio silent for a while when it comes to workshop posting. So I thought I might as well scrub up one of the builds I already have and turn it into this. Honestly it came out far better than I expected, and it may be one of my favorite ONRC builds yet. Hope you guys have as much fun messing with it as I had building it, and hopefully will see ya’ll around soon!
