Welcome to Maddog's Fugly Engineering! Here we provide all the useful garbage-looking hardware that only the confluence of restrained budgets and military requirements can produce!

The Wraith is a long-serving pet project of mine, and felt like the fitting first step for actually publishing a design on the workshop. I have to admit a bit of a love-hate relationship with Empyrion and RE, as I find I get bored before I've gotten deep enough in to really see and appreciate the late-game stuff, and so most of my personal designs I approach trying to be as resource efficient and stripped down as I can so whenever I get the bug to play, I can try to fast-track to the later game content I've yet to really touch. This utilitarian approach is the inspiration for my various personal creations which will all belong to Maddog's Fugly Engineering.

The Wraith has been through multiple design iterations to reach this point, having been recently revisited for the capacitors and chargers that RE has added. A slightly earlier, lower CPU version was tested in survival against one of the pirate asteroid field playfields, and held up far better than I expected given my main CV combat experience has been getting randomly ganked by Zirax CVs while trying to conduct trade with space POIs. I'm looking forward to putting her through her paces more myself, and further improvements may be forthcoming, but without further ado, here are the specs:

***PERFORMANCE***
I've seen some comments to suggest there may be game bugs regarding roll/pitch/yaw rates, and I have to say this feels like it might be the case here. Despite being the highest comparative value, the roll of the Wraith feels a bit anemic, while the pitch rate is abysmal in stats, but still feels at least equal to roll. For most maneuvers, the ship feels best using a combination of yaw and roll to quickly get on target. The ship will handle better than a battleship, but it is still a frigate, not an SV.

For max power, warp core can be subbed for another advanced gen

The Wraith is a size class 0.9, so it will easily dock to the back of most of the larger carrier CVs on the workshop. It is purely a combat-focused vessel, so there are no food or crafting amenities. If you really need something like a shower, it can replace one of the passenger seats. There is a second cockpit in the main cabin if you're nervous about the front station. The core is immediately behind the forward cockpit so in theory any catastrophic damage will disable the ship before more valuable components in the engineering section start getting taken out.
