CRN George Marshall Class Heavy Frigate

The CRN George Marshall is the CRN's next evolution in naval fire support, and power projection. With an armored hull and improved firepower over its predecessors the George Marshall class is a potent vessel for any navy to operate. Projecting the Republics power across its sovereign territory or otherwise. And with an underside mounted Rail turret, the George Marshall is capable of engaging in long range fire support to assist expeditionary forces.

Lore:

The George Marshall was built with the primary intention of functioning as the Republics next back-bone ship line. Built for armored convoy escort and fleet fire support, the George Marshall comes at a crucial time for the Republic Navy. With a downsizing and restructuring of the CRN's expeditionary fleets, and a more pronounced focus on expeditionary operations as a whole, the George Marshall is able to assist the new CRN Expeditionary Strike groups more efficiently. With a greater emphasis placed on the Republics ability to respond to threats quickly and reliably the CRN was in need of a new small combatant to help the Republic fight in potential a-symmetrical engagements. It was deemed that a flexible and reliable design would be needed to fill the Republics next generation expeditionary combatant program or NGEC. This final design was dubbed the George Marshall named after the World War II General. And with its introduction into the fleet in 2996, it only saw brief combat in the Republic-Xeno war, often being relegated to more combat escort missions. This trend would end shortly however, with the George Marshall seeing combat in the CRN's operation Unyielding Resolve, which aimed to have the Bugs fully capitulate in a final battle. After a series of "Shock and Awe" campaigns, the Republic was finally able to make it to the Home system of the Bugs. After months of preparation the CRN was finally ready to launch its final decisive battle in the Xeno-Republic war. At 0800 on January 30th 2996 the first CRN ships jumped into the Bug Home system, these being CRN "Lurker" Stealth ships, unseen and hidden the Lurkers launched a series of attacks paving the way for the main expeditionary fleets, the 115th, the 116th, and 200th to move into the system and begin the CRN's orbital landings. At 1200 the first CRN infantry and armored platoons made landfall. Accompanied by escorting George Marshall and Mac Arthur classes the older, less defended L-22 landing ships made their way to the planets. Unyielding resolve was panning out to be a success. That was until the bugs jumped in several large "Sathanas" Ship Killers. Threatening the orbiting fleets, CRN high command realized it needed to to something quick. Banking on the versatility of the George Marshall and Templar classes in the immediate area, these ships were tasked with taking out the large Ship killers, and their accompanying escorts before they could engage the more vulnerable carriers and landing ships. After two hours the CRN managed to prevail over Bugs, in a last ditch attempt to win a losing fight. at 0400 on January 31st 2996 the CRN was able to capture two key planets. Which this tactical success would not have been afforded to the CRN without the Ruggedness of the George Marshall.

Authors Notes:

I've been working on this ship for the better part of a month now, and its really shaped up to be a really cool and fun design. Overall it functions pretty well, and is fairly reliable. And it is probably one of my favorite builds. And I should have several other designs uploaded and posted shortly, so keep an eye out for those. And stay happy and healthy!

Hello, great ship.

I also wanted to ask about the bigger ship on the second picture, since it's been 2 years I'm wondering if you'll ever upload it, even if it's unfinished. Thanks.

Not really sure when it'll be finished, but it shouldn't take too much longer.
