Lockelle Marines Light Assault Craft

The LAC, or Light Assault Craft, was a military watercraft used by the Marine branch of the Lockellen Army in frontline service from 1953 to 1991, when it was phased out in favor of newer models. It was designed near the end of the Second World War, with some prototypes seeing service within Marine units. The LAC was replaced by more nimble boats, the most common of which being an inflatable type.

Light Assault Craft saw little combat during WWII, the most famous use being during the assault on Isla Estocastica, when the 102nd Marine Division used them to approach the island while under fire from shore-mounted batteries. Fire coming from the cliffs was able to come in through the open top of the boats, resulting in heavy casualties, prompting an effort to make an enclosed version, though this never left the prototype stage, excepting draping a tarp over the top of the boat. The LAC was given the nickname 'Lack', both from its initials and from its performance, which left much to be desired.

Despite this, some surplus vehicles have come into civilian use, with a few still operating with the Muratori Coast Guard around Isla Estocastica. Some reserve divisions in the Lockellan Army still use the LAC for transport roles, most notably the 102nd Marines.


The LAC delivers moderate performance, with a decent engine but an iffy amount of control on turns due to the shape and general flatness of the hull. The main selling points of the design are its transport capacity, being able to accommodate six men, and the survivability of the craft, which is rather high.


Well, to start, this is my first vehicle for Teardown, as well as my first large model in MagicaVoxel, so apologies if it looks like a rounded rectangle. You may have seen my post, 'PanzerOfTheLake's Testing Ground', which contained the first prototype for this. This mod includes the open topped Marine version, a version with a canvas cover, and a version depicting use by the Isla Estocastica law enforcement. Also spawnable are the shelves from the police LAC and an old bullhorn.
