When you need to get traffic from a highway to a side street or neighborhood, this is neat alternative to the plain overpass. I'm calling it an 'underpass' because the highway goes under the road.

I have also set up traffic lights & lane math for those of you with the TL:PE addon.

There are two basic types of interchanges:

service - connects highways to local roads
system - connects highways to other highways

Having smooth interchanges can help with traffic flow.
