Alarm Timers

Description
Information
This is a rather niche mod that is meant for people that tend to forget about stuff that they want to do later on. It can also be used to time certain actions better, however there is no way to pause the game automatically.

Features
So what this mod does is let you set up alarms for specific dates and targets to remind yourself of doing something.

You can pick a target for an alert either by using the drop down list in the popup window or by clicking a state and using the button above of the state view.

To make it more clear and easier to remember what you have planned at the specific date, you can choose from a few types of alarms, titles so to speak:
  • Declare War (Country Target)
  • Call to Arms (Country Target)
  • Launch Offensive (Country Target)
  • Plan or Launch Operation (Country Target)
  • Use Espionage Action (Country Target)
  • Activate Decryption Bonus (Country Target)
  • Custom (Country Target) (allows you to type a short title yourself)
  • Other (Country Target)
  • Launch Offensive (State Target)
  • Retreat to State (State Target)
  • Start Battle (State Target)
  • Launch Naval Invasion (State Target)
  • Construct Building (State Target)
  • Plan or Launch Operation (State Target)
  • Custom (State Target) (allows you to type a short title yourself)
  • Other (State Target)
  • Change Law (No Target)
  • Change Advisor (No Target)
  • Pick National Focus (No Target)
  • Pick Technology to Research (No Target)
  • Upgrade Intelligence Agency (No Target)
  • Custom (No Target) (allows you to type a short title yourself)
  • Other (No Target)

There isn't really any (good) way to have a selection of laws, focuses, techs etc to pick, hence those just remind you about doing that task, but don't have a choice of what you want to pick.

Once an alarm was created and the specified date has been reached, there will be a popup on the left side of the screen. This will not pause the game however. It will list the type (title), target and date of the alarm as well as give you a button to center the map on the target. Additionally it will play an alarm sound, if that hasn't been disabled in the alarm window (at the bottom, next to the close button). The sound will play when a new alarm becomes active as long as there is no active alarm in the list already, meaning if you haven't disabled an old alarm yet a new alarm popping up will not play the sound.

@NeoForce: EU4's scripted gui and variables are much more limited. Also EU4 has no arrays. With a lot of work you may be able to kind of recreate it, but not exactly the same.

Can this be ported to EU4? There are some moments when I can use alarms such as when loans expire and I need to take new loan to grab larger loan

@Ulvheðinn: With credits it's fine. If it's gonna be a public workshop mod, ideally link to this mod in the credits then.

Would you mind if I incorporate this into something I'm working on with credit to you?

ok thanks

@Raphx: Not possible to make it achievement compatible, sadly. Anything that could change the gameplay changes checksum, so any scripted gui or other way to show an alert based on conditions will not be compatible with achievements.
