TGV Duplex Pack

Put into service from 1995, the TGV Duplex are a set of series of 288 trains ordered by the SNCF and the ONCF from the manufacturer Alstom to cope with the forecast increase in the number of passengers using the TGV.
These various generations of TGV Duplex are characterized by a more aerodynamic motor profile as well as 2 levels instead of the traditional single stage. The speed of these trains is pushed up to 320 km/h in commercial service and their power reaches 8800 kW or 9280 KW for the 2N2 versions under 25kv and is lowered to 3880 kW under 1.5kv.
Externally, they approach a livery adapted from the Atlantic livery designed by Roger Tallon. They also abandon the famous notable angular design of the 3 generations of previous TGVs in favor of a more aerodynamic design.
Among the 288 trainsets produced, some are suitable for circulation in Germany and Switzerland: the Euroduplex 4700 series trainsets are equipped with the possibility of picking up 15kv to ensure uninterrupted traveler relations ''France-Germany or France- Switzerland''.
