Modular Backpack

Description
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
This mod is currently not being developed and very outdated! Please use the updated forked version by Draconis13 you can find HERE!

This mod adds a modular backpack customizable at a fabricator with up to 43 combinations possible!

Items and customization:

- Modular Backpack: Simple backpack with 9 slots for items
- 4 pouch: Medical, Ammo, Mining and Tools adding 6 slots for specific items and buffing their respective category
- Holsters: Rifle and Pistol holsters adding one slots for two handed and one handed firearms (respectively)
- Light: A powerful searchlight mountable on your backpack for an easier exploration of the darkness below (require a battery)
- Monitor: A monitor mountable on your backpack to monitor all of your submarines systems and hulls. Come with an integrated sonar (require a battery)
- Scooter: An underwater scooter mountable on your backpack to gotta go fast (require a battery)
- Ammocrate: Large contraption mountable on your backpack for an easier time looting those heavy wreck ammunition (ammobox)
- Shell Rack: Same as the Ammocrate but for shells
- Rebreather: Large contraption allowing you to breath underwater and to refill up to 2 oxygen tank (require a battery)
- 4 Special Pouches: Ammunition, medical, mining or tools, each one can store up to 6 items related to their specialization. While they can be put in any submarine container's, they can't be put IN backpacks and character inventories.

Overrides:

- The weapon holder: has been overrided to allow both weapons and modular backpacks to be put inside. Also, you can now craft, hold and place them anywhere on your sub.
- The vanilla toolbelt : has been overrided to not become irrelevent compared to other modular backpacks. It has now be buffed to increase both your electrical and mechanical skill, as well as massively boosting your repair speed.
- The vanilla decorative workbench : No longer overrided !

Balance and Encumbrance:

As you may already know, mods adding containers like backpacks, crates, storage, etc. shift massively the balance of the vanilla game.
That's why i added drawbacks to using and filling those backpacks. The most obvious one are the stats change when holding or wearing one. For instance, while the Ammocrate modification allow you to hold up to 6 ammobox at once,
filling it will not only slow you down, but also reduced the effectiveness of all your skills. This is called the encombrance system. To make it short : the more you fill a backpack, the more you will suffer for maluses. And even more than that,
Each modification have properties : following the ammocrate example, it will be very hard to swim fast with it as well as to repair the submarine systems. And don't think about cheesing the system by holding them in your hands : the effects will still applies.

Of course, even with that, the game may become too easy. So think about those difficulty mods like Barotraumatic and Neurotrauma !

Important notes:

1- Only the basic Modular backpack is buyable and sellable. All other variation are to be crafted
2- You will need a Workbench to customize and craft other modular backpacks
3- All Backpacks can be hold in hands, but maluses still applies when doing so. So be careful

I don't use Light Packpacks.

Somewhere there should be a movable button if you are wearing a backpack that can have light, or generally something that is not permanently on.

These movable areas where there is a button usually end up at the bottom of the screen, but can also appear on the side.

If it is there, and you press the button on it, and nothing happens even though there is a battery in the right place that has power, then there is some kind of bug.

If it is related to the mod and the newer game version, you should switch to the “Forke” version linked above, as it is still being updated to work with the game, and it also removes a performance problem that this mod causes here over time.

At the top there is a link hidden in the word “HERE” to the re-uploaded and customized version, as it no longer receives updates here. / And it should be clearly stated at the top.

If it does not work for you then you have some mods that do not work with the original and the new version.

Modular Holders

I only know the “Weapon holder” that was brought back as an extra item without changing the original, I didn't pay attention to the name if it is called “Modular Holders”, but the name would have to be adjusted in the description in the mod if it is.

The weapon holder from this mod is built in the Fabricator, equips it like weapons with double click, and target, gets a display where it is shown when you set it, and confirms with E to place it, to these all backpacks from this mod can then be attached.

The original weapon holder can only hold the weapons, the modified one can hold both weapons and backpacks.

At least it would make sense to call it “Modular Holders” if it is for weapons and backpacks than just for weapons like the original one that is only available in the editor.

The backpacks that the developer made for the game only go into the Slots for the suitcases in locker, i.e. the lower extra spaces.

What I don't know anymore is whether the backpacks from the developer can be loaded when you put them there.

These mod backpacks can be loaded when you put them on the weapon holders.

The weapon holders should still be possible for all mod backpacks, and smaller ones should also go into the case slots of lockers.

If small ones go everywhere in the locker, many would take advantage of that, and some would get performance problems because of the problem of too many objects in a submarine, to compensate for this, stack sizes were increased and suitcases were moved to their own places.

Updated version still only goes on weapon mounts due to container size (I.E. putting a backpack with submarine ammo inside of a locker) and also because it predates the container update and also so players wouldn't fill cabinets will always status effect bags which have more carry than hand containers.

I am considering putting the smaller backpacks in container slots so there is a clear line between a backpack you can quick swap and the larger carry rigs for ammo and large amounts of bulky items like machine guns etc.

The link above should be made clearer than just sticking it in a word where apparently many still overlook the new version.

Which fixes some of the issues that occur with the mod over time through game updates from the developers.
