C308 Londinium corvette

The C308 Londinium corvette was created in 2010 as part of the Danish Navy’s modernization program. The main objective of the corvette was to ensure maritime security, as well as participation in international anti-piracy and anti-smuggling operations.

Design of the C308 Londinium began in 2006. The main requirement for the corvette was to be able to operate in the shallow areas of the Baltic Sea and the Northern Sea Route. Therefore, the ship had to have low draught and the ability to operate in ice.

The first corvette was built at the shipyard in Copenhagen and successfully passed all the necessary tests. The corvette was named "Londinium" after the ancient Roman name of the city of London, which was one of the most important shopping centres in Europe and had strong ties with Denmark in antiquity.

The C308 Londinium was commissioned in 2012, and the Danish Navy became active. Since then, he has successfully participated in many international operations, including the fight against piracy and smuggling in Africa and NATO operations in Europe. Today, the C308 Londinium remains one of the most modern and powerful ships in the Danish Navy.
