Description
The USS Enterprise NC-1701-D with some high powered phasers. The two prisms at the end allow them to aim at targets and each group is hotkeyed seperately so you can target seperate things with it. Great of sniping small craft that try and swarm you.

Heavy use of shields means it's vulnerable to EMP and disruptor attacks. The Mk3 test version has some extra PD at the cost of armor near the front to try and help against lots of missle.

Ship was originally just a concept as I wanted high powered phasers more true to Star Trek ships rather than the weak laser cannons and it was also started when Ions had longer range. The reduced range of Ion have hindered it a lot but still preforms quite well. I posted because my screenshots have generated some interest so figured I'd share it.

Tactics:
When facing lots of small ships it's best to go full reverse and simply pick them off as they come in range. You can use the groups to target 2 ships at a time on left and right sides. Though 1 phaser is usually enough and can potentially target 4 at a time.
Vs large ships it depends on the ship. The phasers being able to aim and not down the middle like most Ion ships lets it more easily target systems on the ship. I've had ships charge the front of ship while my phasers drill down the side into engines are reactors of enemy.

I currently use 2 of these ships in 16-18 encounter ranges as there are often multiple large ships in the area. Have each ship go to a different side to increase flanking and the aiming flexibility I can often easily target subsystems.
